A senior American official has reportedly urged the Israeli government to sign a 10-year military aid agreement that the Obama administration is offering and not wait for the next US president in the hopes of securing a better deal.

Despite a “particularly challenging budget environment” in the US, the administration is willing to sign a memorandum of understanding for “the largest single pledge of military assistance to any country in US history,” a senior US official told the Haaretz newspaper Sunday night.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told ministers at the weekly cabinet meeting earlier in the day that “perhaps we won’t succeed in reaching agreement with this administration and will have to reach an agreement with the next administration.”

Israel currently receives some $3 billion a year in US military aid. In November, when both sides first met to negotiate a new 10-year package, US congressional sources told Reuters that Israel would be asking for an annual $5 billion, starting in 2017. The sources estimated that the White House and Israel would ultimately agree on a sum between $4 billion and $5 billion.

Not satisfied with $3 billion a year the Israelis are demanding that the US taxpayer hands over $5 billion every year for ten years. Netanyahu, Israel's current neoZionist leader, even has the gall to suggest that he might not accept that amount in the hope of squeezing more out of the next president.

Bear this in mind- Israel's refusal to comply with US requests to cease illegal building in occupied Palestinian territory along with the illegal transfer of populations has tarnished the reputation of the US . Obama has even been forced to veto his own proposals at the United Nations. Further, $50 billion in the hands of this rogue regime will ensure that the Middle East remains hell on earth for millions of its inhabitants and that war with Iran is always on the tongues of the Israel First lobby in Washington. As long as Israelis believe that the US will cover for them, no matter what, then they will continue to drive for war- because the foundation of their doctrine is ethnic cleansing and expansion. This will not stop with Palestine. They are NOT seeking a peaceful life in UN mandated Israel.

We've created this problem and we should put all our elected leaders to the test by making support for Israel's wars a vote LOSER- not a vote winner.
Don't give them $5 billion a year. Give them nothing until they act responsibly.

I don't think we should be giving the Israeli's any money. But, then I would end ALL foreign aid. Every dime of it. I would also end the implicit military protection we are giving every other country.
