The irony of Teddies seat

Fact is, I'm against the health bill as it is currently being proposed.

I'll just never get the giddiness of your side that we'll never see any kind of healthcare reform. Do you really think that people aren't hurt by the cost of healthcare, and the lack of good, affordable coverage? Are you deaf & dumb?

Most people in the country DO support universal healthcare, btw...
Nobody believes that, that's silliness. And what exactly do you mean by "universal"? That everybody be under one system run by the government? No, I don't support that.

One thing that I find ridiculous is the "10 Million are uncovered so we must force everybody to buy the crappiest insurance conceived" being supported as a breakthrough.

This is like making "the rich" buy a low quality helmet for everybody then making every person wear that helmet all day long because some people ride bicycles sometimes. If the need is the helmet while riding then work to get helmets for those who can't afford them, don't make everybody else wear the crappiest helmet ever manufactured.

Seriously, people who can't afford insurance now are not going to be able to afford the huge deductible and will STILL be 1 sickness away from bankruptcy, the only difference is now they'll be forking some of their paycheck over to healthcare they can't use.

Sure. Because that is exactly what is being proposed right now.

You're so smart.
It is disingenuous to ignore that it is exactly what the leadership of the party who are forcing this on us say this is the first step towards.

It must be so exciting for you that millions of working Americans will continue to be one serious illness or accident away from bankruptcy.

Yay.

Im all for a national mandate that each state has to come up with a plan. But I absolutely hate the idea that My state should be paying for other states health welfare... considering we already get zero breaks on Federal tax when the living index in this state is factored in. I think I have heard from people on this board on that issue that if i don't like it I am free to move.

It's much more disingenuous to say that single payer is the ONLY thing that qualifies as reform for liberals, and it's even disingenuous to say what you just said, considering the fairly watered down proposal being considered. The public option is even off the table.

Where you would rather the entire country just go bankrupt do to the costs of this bill. A bill that does NOTHING to lower health care costs so that more people can afford it. A bill that simply puts more red tape in the process.

I am all for an actual SOLUTION to the problem of rising health care costs, this bill is not it. Not in any way.

you do realize that the reason nothing has passed so far is that there aren't enough Democrats in favor of the plans that have been proposed....we've had a full year in which the Dems had enough votes to pass anything they could agree on.....universal, government option, restructuring, anything.....instead we have nothing.......

as I recall, those Dems most liberal refused to support plans that didn't have a government option......those who were moderates wouldn't support a plan that did.......so I see nothing wrong with my characterization of the DemoDisarray.....

Whether it is watered down or not, it has been directly stated by everybody in a leadership position that is touting this bill to pretty much anybody who will listen that it is only the "first step on a longer journey" towards single payer craptacular care. Shoot even Watermark understands it, and salivates in the hopes that they'll pass "anything at all" so that they'll have to "fix" it later. Even better if it's this craptacular piece of legislation designed to fail as they base it on CUTS in medicare...
