The Intel will be what I chose!

Trump says he does not need intel briefings because he is "smart".

This is the type of thinking that got us into the Iraq war. Bush decided to make the intel whatever he could find to support his agenda, not the other way around. Now Trump is trying to basically do the same thing, he is pathological in the way he only believes his own constructed reality, a reality that confirms that he is the best. If you can discount the intel and unconnect it from reality or fact, you can convince yourself of anything.

Iraq has WMD was the conclusion Bush needed to justify the war he had already concluded was necessary, because he was smarter than the facts. He knew better.

Trump has the same problem, he thinks he is smarter that reality.

given that the fbi and cia are both saying different things i would hope the president makes a judgement call.

btw ive never seen an outgoing president invalidated this quickly before. Its like obama doesnt exist anymore lol.

PDB tends to be repetative-but if I were Trump I'd still take it daily.

One of the ways I teach myself about weapons systems/foreign policy is to constantly READ new articles.
They are by nature repetitive -but there are always nuggets of new info in there -one learns to build a knowledge base.

I can't excuse Trump on this / he can use all the briefings he can get

Funny part is that he has the authority to frame the briefings anyway he wants, if he finds them repetitive he can request just the new data for the day. Truth be told, he pays little attention to any of it, this "rationalization" arose solely because he was questioned regarding it

The problem J #1 is, at least President GWB* received his PDB, even though he marginalized valuable warnings from Richard Clarke, who seemed to be deemed a conspiracy theorist extremist.
"I believe the Bush administration in the first eight months considered terrorism an important issue, but not an urgent issue ..." Richard Clarke

Trump thinks he's smart enough to know the difference between "known unknowns" and "unknown unknowns". Count me a skeptic.

* President GHWB was former head of the CIA, and thus a master spy in his own right.

I heard him say, with my own ears, that the PDBs he has received so far have all been the same. He wants to be notified when there is a change, or some other significant event occurs. If obama hadn't smoked so much dope when he was a kid(or maybe last week), maybe he wouldn't have to get the same briefing every damn day.

The guys arrogance will get in the way of his ability to govern. Its clear he has no chance to see anything based on reality, it will all be based on what makes him feel better about himself.

Maybe if Bush knew, or the intelligence community knew that the 9/11 terrorists were in country BEFORE he took office, it would have been a bigger deal.....

and get real....the head of the CIA is about as far as you can get from being a 'master spy'.....

He's an egotist, but I think he is very shrewd, he knows the reality of his supporters and how he can manipulate it to his benefit. Everything he says and does is orchestrated ahead of time down to the midnight tweets, as long as he can control the media agenda he can play the media martyr, which always sells on the right
