The Great Red State, Blue State Debate

Let me summarize it for you and then we can get into the reality and facts Newsome so desperately avoided by flailing, deflecting and lying his dumb ass off.

Newsome came across, as any rich, white privilege, entitled white Democrat would, as a smarmy, arrogant congenital liar.

DeSantis answered the questions, was stoic in his facts and made Newsome look like the uneducated, smarmy, failed leftist dullard we know him to be.

Serving only himself

At 45, DeSantis also is younger than Newsom by 11 years, and better educated, having graduated from Yale and Harvard Law School before joining the Navy and serving in Iraq.

Newsom has a mediocre political science degree and has never served anyone but himself.

Newsom grew up with the Gettys and the Pelosis and swans around as if he owns the world while DeSantis still is the guy who has to work for everything.

After running California into the ground, Newsom’s bumptious self-regard is a laughable contrast to DeSantis’ awkwardly earnest humility.

Homelessness, rampant drug use, and human excrement on sidewalks are the most obvious manifestations of Newsom’s elitist leadership style, but less visible metrics on California’s misery index include woeful student learning outcomes and a yawning gulf between rich and poor.

For his handling of COVID alone, Newsom should be disqualified from public office.

Here the contrast with Florida is epic, as a new book, “The Newsom Nightmare” by former gubernatorial rival John Cox, lays out.

While DeSantis “adopted the Swedish model of allowing society to remain open while protecting those at higher risk,” Newsom instituted the most draconian lockdown in the country.

The strategy paid off for Florida, with a death rate among seniors 20% lower than California’s.

The Wall Street Journal also ran the numbers this week and they are brutal: California has the second-highest jobless rate in the country at 4.8% compared to Florida’s 2.8%.

In California, taxes total $10,167 per capita vs. $5,406 in Florida.

Yet for all that taxpayer money, Newsom presided over a $31 billion budget shortfall this year while DeSantis ran an $18 billion surplus.

Electricity prices are twice as high in California, and gas costs $1.80 more per gallon because of Newsom’s insane climate policies.

On K-12, California spends 45% more per pupil than Florida, but student test scores are “significantly lower.”

California has almost seven times more homeless on the streets, despite having twice Florida’s population.

Florida has halved its homeless numbers with a “tough love” approach, writes Cox.

More than 1 million Golden Staters evacuated in the three years to July 2022, while almost 750,000 people moved to Florida.

There is no question who is the better governor, but you can count on Newsom to wrench the debate away from his failures and onto *favorite Dem topics like abortion and Trump derangement.

Freedom wins: In red vs. blue state debate, DeSantis offers best case for successful governing

Earth to Democrats:Biden presidency is a dumpster fire. How many warning signs do you need?

A big reason Newsom needs to appeal to Floridians is because people are fleeing California and moving to states… like Florida.

They are leaving the Golden State in droves because they are in search of freedom of another kind: lower costs of living, less suffocating taxes and regulation, and a government that doesn’t try to raise their kids for them.

More than ever, families are choosing where to live based on a state’s politics and policies.

The numbers speak for themselves. According to the U.S. Census Bureau’s 2022 report on net domestic migration, Florida topped the list, gaining 318,855 people from other states. Texas and the Carolinas also saw large increases.

Guess which state lost the most? California. That state saw the most out-migration, losing 343,230 of its citizens. New York and Illinois weren’t far behind.
..........

Despite their opposing tactics, virus impacts in the two states were nearly identical. Yet in Florida, because of less government interference, schoolchildren and the economy fared substantially better.

The governors tackled other issues as well, from education to abortion.

DeSantis this year signed into law a universal school choice program that will give parents the option to send their children to private school or homeschool them, with financial help from the state. Meanwhile, in California, private school choice is nonexistent.

DeSantis has taken a lot of flak for some of his other school agenda, which seeks to curb what schools can teach young children about sexual orientation and gender. Yet what he’s doing in Florida is centered on parental rights.

The opposite is true in California, where parents are being removed from decisions their young children are making about their gender.

Migration

Florida is the most sought-after destination for potential movers, with 34,000 individuals actively searching for homes in the state. In 2022, Florida saw 318,855 domestic net in-migration.

California tops the list of states people are leaving, with 43,000 users on Redfin.com looking to relocate away from the state. According to U-Haul data, from 2017 to 2022, California witnessed substantial outmigration, ranking among the highest in the nation.

Education

Florida, under Governor DeSantis, expanded school choice universally, allowing low-income and middle-class families to choose the best education for their children. The results are visible in superior learning outcomes, with Florida consistently outperforming California in education rankings. Florida’s educational achievements are attained with considerably lower per-pupil spending.

While CA Governor Newsom chooses to send his kids to elite private schools, he has failed to give California parents the opportunity to use a portion of the state’s per-pupil funding at the school of their choice. Compared to Florida’s students’ scores in literacy, California’s students ranked two points below the national average and spend $22,893 per K-12 student.

Crime

In California, the number of violent crimes reported was 183,546 in 2021 more than double the state of Florida.

Housing

The median cost of a home in Florida in April 2023 was $410,000. Florida’s homeless population has decreased by 46% since 2007.

The average cost of homes in California is $836,110. California is home to seven out of the top 10 most expensive cities for tenants. Since Gov. Newsom took office, California has spent almost $20 billion to reduce homelessness, only to see it rise nearly 25%.

Taxes

Florida is one of nine states without an income tax. California’s high state income tax rates—the 49th worst in the nation—take a significant portion of its residents’ earnings, discouraging economic growth and investment.

Entrepreneurship

Florida stands out as one of the top two states for entrepreneurs, specifically those forming Limited Liability Companies (LLCs). California ranks last in the nation for entrepreneurship and innovation.

We need to add a few to this list.

Gas Prices

California Avg. $4.940
Florida Avg. $3.013

Unemployment

California 4.8%
Florida 2.8%

State Budgets

California: $32 billion budget deficit
Florida: $21.8 billion surplus

Overall Tax Burden by State

California ranks #12
Florida ranks #46

For leftist morons, a lower number is better.
