The Empire Strikes Back!

IT seems to me the Republican establishment has really taken a back seat, as they should, to the primary. I'm not talking about the establishment candidates, but the party, the party chairs, the Establishment friendly super pac's , and the Establishment leaders like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell.

The establishment candidates have done so also, with the exception of JEB, they have, for the most part held back on attacking Trump. I think the theory is that when he implodes, those of his supporters who remain in group of Republican primary voters will be choosing someone, and because they don't want the Trump machine after them.

SO, this seems to be the time where they must strike or forever hold their peace.

Will the attacks on Trump begin, or will the Republicans accept that in 2016 they will not be nominating a Conservative for President? If they accept that fate is there really a Conservative party left in America? Are we going forward with a Populist Republican party and an even more Liberal Democrat(ic) party?

you should really try to decide if you're actually against the establishment or for it. are you on the side of freedom or tyranny?

In this post I was not advancing an agenda, rather trying to spur conversation over a topic that has yet to be discussed. I am interested in how Conservatives feel regarding what is happening to what used to be their home, and if they feel they still have a home...

Sure Trump is not a part of the Republican Establishment, but he is the epitome of the American Establishment.

1) I firmly believe that trump is part of the establishment, he's just talking a good game to pander to an angry base.
2) as to you trying to spur a conversation, why don't you try and spur conversation over the establishment in your own party instead of defending hillary and her misconduct.

I'm defending HRC?

Here is my opinion. If Ted Cruz wins in South Carolina, which he probably will, he will bring momentum into Super Tuesday. Given the states voting on Super Tuesday Cruz will probably win many of those, maybe even half or more than half. If that happens it will be very tough for Trump to make a comeback in my opinion. Cruz could effectively sweep the south when it's all said and done. He should win Texas and Rubio will probably win Florida if Rubio is still in it. Trump would have to hold out hope for the more moderate republicans in the northeast and west coast. I really think that once the primaries really start up, especially in traditional red states, Trump will start to struggle and decline. I think Iowa showed that Christian conservatives favor Cruz, and rightfully so.

there are repeated clinton email threads where you adamantly defend various aspects of her choice to use private servers and quibble over data classifications. it's like hearing the older crap of 'what did he know and when did he know it?'.

Interesting take, I think you are wrong, I simply don't think Cruz is presidential enough or liked enough. I well might be incorrect. We shall see. I suspect someone will emerge in the establishment group that will give Trump a run (for his money) in once the primaries crank into high gear, but the question will be... was it too late. I suspect Cruz ends up where Santorum did... in the dust bin of history.

I know he won Iowa, but he only plays to a very narrow focus. Sad but true, his physical appearance hinders him greatly. He should lose the pot belly and stop with the fake smarmy facial expressions.

I don't like what she did, but I bristle at the scandal machine and false assumptions. I don't like the hypocrisy of the Rights constant Clinton hate. I don't think, from what Ive seen thus far, Clinton committed any crimes. It was bad judgement. She did not do what they allege in Benghazi. Its amazing how many people believe she said that the attack on Benghazi was not a terrorist attack, and that she issued a "stand down order" to troops that were at the ready to rescue her friend Ambassador Stevens.

Christian conservatives favored santorum but that didn't get him anywhere in the end.
