The debate

I watched the whole thing and the hour and a half actually went by pretty fast.

My impression is Hillary did better than Trump. Though Trump had his moments, especially early when he had Hillary pinned down on NAFTA and trade. That will almost certainly play well in the Rust Belt for Trump. Trump was the clear winner on jobs, in fact.

Which points to why scoring the debate is difficult: much of it depends on what's important to the veiwer/voter.

Trump got bogged down with birther gate when he could have diffused it. Hillary pretty much called the whole country racist with her 'implicit bias' or whatever the hell she called it. If race is the topic, instead of dredging up Obama's birth certificate, why not ask the contenders about BLM and whether they think the group is productive? You know, something current and relevant.

Trump got bogged down again, on the Iraq war vote, when he didn't vote for the war while Hillary did[!]. Yet, Trump allowed himself to be put on the defensive on the issue.

I thought the moderater's questions sucked, generally. In large part because of what was NOT asked. Hillary should have been grilled on a small flotilla of questions having to do with the emails; why her IT people were hiding behind the 5th amendment; WTF on smashing government Blackberries and the like.

Hillary will be declared the winner but it will be interesting to see if it affects Trump's momentum going forward.

I think he squinted too much and she made a mistake by trying to look smug, she didn't carry it off.....

The squint comes off as a scowl but I think it's where he's focusing. Hillary was trying to look more affable or whatever but it was kind of strained and came off as a smirk.

Just visibly, Trump had issues. The sniffles, the thirst (especially after he made fun of Rubio for the water thing).

He literally could not stop interrupting Hillary. If Gore lost points for sighs, Trump hurt himself badly by coming across as rude and over-aggressive.

And he just wasn't prepared. He started out very strong on trade, and then the wheels came off, completely.

My summary of the debate (which I could have cared less and didn't watch): NOTHING CHANGED.

Hillary will still lose and there is little energy in her camp. Hell, some of the leftist tards are actually opining for Joe O'Biden; now THAT is desperation.

i actually liked that trump focused on trade and iraq and didnt go into other things. He should have focused a bit more on the emails though as that shows clintons dictatorial tendencies.

Rude and over-aggressive? For pussies like you, saying "boo" is rude and over-aggressive?

Go rub some ointment on the part that hurts. It should be your lips from puckering up so much.

He helped himself with his base, but he already had that locked up.

The question is if she helped herself with the Gary Johnson / Jill Stein voters who traditionally will now start to move toward one of the two major candidates.

He tried to curry favor with the Mid-Western states that he needs, but it seemed like pandering to me.

Just sayin'. I wasn't personally offended, but it wasn't a good look for the Trumpster.

And if you think I'm over-sensitive about it, can't imagine what you must think of Trump - he spent the last quarter of the debate whining about Hillary's ads and how she was being "not so nice" to him.

Cavuto produced a video of Trump from 2003 decrying the Iraq war. Lester Holt asked him about a 40 year old case, an inaccurate suort of Iraq, but not a single question to Hillary about emails, Benghazi, her recent health, her quid pro quo foundation.

The story for Trumps people is the partisan bias of liberal moderators- I think Hillary will relax- Trump will double punch the next debate.

"Boo". Now, go whine, bitch.

To be clear...the low bar that was set for Trump doesn't equate to 'he did well on trade'. He kept repeating his own word salad, which at times was completely unintelligible.

Sure...he mentioned trade agreements. The problem is, even Right wing agencies don't claim that NAFTA had any real effect on jobs in this country.

Debates don't do anything to sway either base. Trump lost big time with Independents who haven't been following the day to day idiocy of his campaign.

He exposed himself as even less qualified to be in any leadership position than Palin ever was.

'Using laws' to screw contractors is not going to fly.

Calling a pageant winner 'Miss Piggy', and then doubling down this morning by claiming 'they had a lot of problems with her...she put on a lot of weight' is not going to help him with women.
