Just remember folks, last month our Congress passed (with votes from Democrats and Republicans) a bill that will make Oct. 14 a national "remembrance" day for Charlie Kirk .... the assassinated MAGA/ALT-Right blowhard who made a career trying to intellectually justify racism, sexism and a theocratic government. Remember this when some politico wonk carries on about "American exceptionalism". As the old Chinese curse goes, we are living in interesting times. God help us all. 🫤

Why not make that day a remembrance day?

Either way, I'm in favor of it.

We sane people can observe the day by being grateful for not having him around running his big fat lying mouth anymore, while the trumper goofballs can make it a big deal and pretended that they give a shit about it for anything other than propaganda.

It is his birthday... Remembrance Day is November 11th in Commonwealth countries to commemorate the huge losses of WWI, and the losses in other wars. Given equal billing to Kirk is the worst kind of stolen valor I have heard of.

I get what you're saying, but sadly it doesn't work that way .... once you nationalize a symbol/image for generations to come, there will always be those who will revise it's meaning to suit their agenda .... ESPECIALLY if the symbol EXACTLY promotes that agenda. Case in point: confederate statues and naming of military bases after confederate soldiers.

Yes if you selectively edit Kirk's speech you can falsely make it appear like he is racist. But if you look at the whole conversation he isn't being racist. He is advocating for a system that looks at merit and not the color of a person's skin. When you look at a person's skin to determine if he does or does not get a job that is racism. Racism is hiring someone who is not as qualified for a job just because they have the right skin color. Now if you want to post his entire conversation instead of a selectively edited snippets we can discuss it.

To them, any black person in a position of notoriety/prestige has to be due to DEI (use to be affirmative action), and is therefore unqualified. No moron it is YOUR BURDEN to supply the full conversation and not carefully selected snippets of a conversation. I BET you have not watched or read the full transcript of what Charlie said. When you hire someone or don't hire someone because of the color of their skin it is racism. Merit based hiring is the only logical and ethical way to hire.
