Taylor’s testimony causes Trump to push the panic button

There it was, a tick-tock complete with names, dates and references to Taylor’s own contemporaneous memos. It described in vivid detail the attempt of Trump and company to get Ukraine’s president to help manipulate the 2020 election.

Not only did Trump allegedly ask Ukraine to play an illegal role in a U.S. election, his strategy of persuasion looked an awful lot like extortion.

In his statement, Taylor expressed a firm commitment to the long-standing U.S. policy of support for Ukraine against Russian aggression. But then he described a discovery he’d made once he got to Kyiv: A quartet of Trump cronies didn’t seem to share that commitment. And they had created a back channel to gamble with America’s foreign policy.

This “irregular” crew, Taylor testified, included Energy Secretary Rick Perry, Ambassador to the European Union Gordon Sondland, special envoy Kurt Volker and — going nuts on the hurdy-gurdy — the president’s volunteer lawyer Rudolph W. Giuliani.

That is exactly what a person being pressured would say. Is Zelensky, who is begging for money and missiles, going to squeal on the guy who has the power to stop the help? He had to say whatever Trumpy wanted to hear. He was just elected and getting America/Trump pissed off with you for telling the truth had no value to him.
I am content that in the end, it will all come out. I suspect it will not be good for Trump or Rudy.
The House voted for the aid. Trump inserted himself in the equation. Why. He had nothing to do with it, Normally it is just finished off. But Trump saw a chance to derive some help by hurting Biden. if Zelkensky announced he was beginning an investigation into Biden and his son, Trump would potentially damage his biggest contender. So Trump demanded that, so Ukraine cound get the missiles.
However the House help was sunsetted and if Trump kept withholding the missiles, the deal would be dead and no help would come. Zelensky did not cave fast enough.

That's a very good and concise description of what happened with Ukraine/Zelensky.

It baffles me why anyone with an IQ above room temperature could think that this kind of behavior from a POTUS is okay. Well, a Republican POTUS, of course. If a (D) POTUS had done this..... oy vey. The obvious conclusion is that anyone who is cool with this doesn't give a shit about his/her country.... as long as their party is in the WH.
