Supreme Court

NOVA

U. S. NAVY Veteran
Elena Kagan for the Supreme Court.

Ms. Kagan, while attending Princeton University as an undergraduate, entitled her senior thesis "To the Final Conflict: Socialism in New York City, 1900-1933."
In her thesis, Ms. Kagan wrote, "In our times [this was 30 years ago], a coherent socialist movement is nowhere to be found in the United States. Americans are more likely to speak of a golden past than of a golden future, of Capitalism's glories than of socialism's greatness. Conformity overrides dissent; the desire to conserve has overwhelmed the urge to alter. Such a state of affairs cries out for explanation. Why, in a society by no means perfect, has a radical party never attained the status of a major political force? Why, in particular, did the socialist movement never become an alternative to the nation's established parties?"
===========================================================
So we have another reason to work for this womens defeat...
Shes a Socialist, anti-Capitalist, and a radical....
To the likes of Obama, shes perfect...

Socialism's greatness ?
A radical party to attain the status of a major political force ?

Shes not fit for the Supreme Court....

Ten or twenty years ago, Democrats would have been highly insulted and offended to be lumped in with and compared to Socialists and Communists...

Socialists and Communists, that Kennedy and LBJ, great Democrats of the 1960's and 70's, and every Democrat in those days would have considered the absolute enemies of the United States and everything we stand for....it was just about the worse thing you could call an American.

Today....thats who they are, and seem to actually take pride in the roll....is it ignorance or a radical change in philosophy...

I'm surprised they let her papers out in public. Hillary buried hers, and Obama as much as he could.

So when the Shrub and company used your tax dollars to bail out private banks and Wall St., why didn't folk with your mindset scream "Socialism!"?

When the Shrub gave you those two "stimulus" checks, did you refuse to deposit them in the name of "anti-socialism"?

These are just two examples, but I trust you get the point and realize the folly of your erroneous assertions above.

You need to start reading beyond what you LIKE to see and what you believe. Observe and learn:

Kagan's thesis simply explored historical questions about socialism. As Media Matters for America has noted, Kagan did not express personal support for socialism or radicalism in her thesis. Rather, she explored the historical question of why socialism did not become a major political movement in the United States as it had elsewhere in the world. In addition to Wilentz saying that Kagan has never been a socialist, one of her college peers described her views in college as "well within the mainstream of the ... sort of liberal, democratic, progressive tradition." Despite the fact that Kagan's thesis is publicly available, Republicans did not raise the issue during her confirmation as solicitor general, suggesting that none of them believed that she was actually a socialist.

It's called "Cherry Picking". You take a small part of something someone wrote or said and you post it completely out of context of the original writing or statement so that it appears that person meant something else. It's dishonest to an extreme. Rush Limbaugh is famous for it.

It just goes to show you what a partisan hack Pavo is. Not only that he must think everyone on this sight must be completely stupid not to see what he's done or he's a blythering idiot himself.

Well let's get a few things straight Pavo. You're the biggest political extremist on this sight. You're far more to the extreme right then a center left person like Taichi. You're so reactionary and partisan that you're even farther to the right of Dixie and Southernman whom, unlike you, are actually capable of independent thinking. So you're accusing anyone of extremism is just so fucking laughable. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. God you're a hypocrite.

The fact is, your just an extremist right wing fascist hack and Taichi just ate your lunch by pointing out your attempted lie which, by the way, no one is stupid enough to believe.

So why don't you go back inside your double wide, put on you your white robe and salute the autographed photo of Hitler hanging on your wall.

Bravo's clueless about academia, theses, and exploring historical questions. Studying and writing on a topic doesn't imply support for it.

That's what I got out of what bravo posted. There was nothing in it that suggested support for socialism/radicalism.

And you post from some nut that thinks Kagan is calling for a rise of the dark forces to bring on the Apocalypse.

How in heavans name do those quotes make her a Socialist?

She wrote a paper on Socialism and asked some important questions about it... how does that make her a socialist?

Are you blind?

From bravo's credible source...

And then Ms. Kagan issues her call to action, her call for Socialists to unite in order to defeat "the entrenched foe."

...

And who is this "entrenched foe"? Primarily the Church. What Ms. Kagan refers to as the "final conflict," Pope John Paul II called the "final confrontation."

Do you have a quote/cite where she calls for Socialists to unite in order to defeat "the entrenched foe"?
