WASHINGTON - Attorney General Eric Holder went against the advice of President Obama and named a special prosecutor Monday to look back at the alleged torture of terror suspects by CIA agents.

Holder named veteran U.S. Attorney John Durham of Connecticut as a special prosecutor to review the abuse reports and decide "whether the law was violated in connection with the interrogation of certain detainees."

Holder said the preliminary review that could lead to criminal charges "will be controversial," but the special prosecutor route was "the only responsible course of action for me to take."

Debra Burlingame, the sister of Charles "Chic" Burlingame (pilot of the plane that crashed into the Pentagon) met with President Obama today, along with other families who were victims of 9/11. Burlingame said she confronted Obama about Attorney General Eric Holder prosecuting the men who interrogated KSM, which may have produced intelligence leading us to bin Laden.

Burlingame describes the encounter with Obama: "As a former attorney I know you can't tell the Attorney General what to do, he said, 'No, I can't.' But I said 'we -- that shouldn't stop you from giving your opinion. We wouldn't be here today if they hadn't done their jobs. Can't you at least give them your opinion.' And he said 'no I won't,' and he turned around and walked away."

Thats how the survivors and families of 9/11 are treated by this ass, that finally, after 10 years, found time to visit the WTC site.....

For starters, no president should decide who gets prosecuted at all. A president can pardon people if he wants to avoid their prosecution, but beyond that the president should have exactly zero say in whom is prosecuted or investigated.

And yes, if the Attorney General believes that the law of the United States was violated he should investigate and prosecute. The idea that prohibitions against torture should be ignored because we possibly obtained a shred of information that, together with additional information gathered over an eight year period, eventually led to the location of OBL is fucking crazy. It would eviscerate the law completely.

Yep...Obama is a glory whore- Taking credit for another man's policies and then pursuing prosecutions of men who made his whoreish glory possible.

I noticed that you have no evidence to support the contention that waterboarding was what led to OBL's demise.

BushII flew bin laden's family out of the country the day after 9-11. Bush said Bin laden was not a priority. Obama got him, Bush let him escape.
