So, my usual complaint to colonization is, how do we plan to travel to these worlds? We can't even fly to a planet orbiting our next door neighbour, Andromeda!

Andromeda is a galaxy and over 2.5 million light years away!!

We'll be on more than one planet by the time 1,000 years pass. This prediction reminds me a bit of Bill Gates and his, "Nobody needs more than one Meagbyte of storage!" statement...
 
Yes but it is our closest galaxy.
So bloody what? Aren't there enough planets in our galaxy? Anyway you are even wrong about that, Andromeda is the closest spiral galaxy to us, however there are many others that are closer. Not least the Canis Major Overdensity and the Larger Magellanic Cloud.
