I think he's surprised by the immediate backlash from Republicans.

It's a last attempt to save face. Republicans have been trying to downplay 1/6 since it happened - they haven't been allied with Democrats on the messaging, or anything else.

The only reason they're reacting like this is because Tucker went too far. His portrayal was so out of touch and disconnected from the reality that even Congressional Republicans pushed back.

I saw a clip where Carlson called the rioters peaceful tourists. Only on FOX would he not been immediately fired.

No one is trying to downplay it. Most rational people applaud it. Never forget it is "We the people", not..."I the government". It was time for it.

I mean, you're not wrong - and I appreciate the response here. But "we the people" spoke in November of 2020. The protestors & rioters on 1/6 were trying to prevent the peaceful transition of power, which is a sacred American tradition.

They were standing up to a increasingly powerful and corrupt government. I personally have zero problem with what occurred that day.

My taxes pay for a lot of things that I don't have a right to see or enter. And they weren't just doing that - they were smashing windows and doors, and beating cops to get them out of the way.

the video inside that was being hidden clearly shows the majority were casually strolling around and acting like tourists. You butted into our conversation about THOSE people.
