Last night, congress voted on and passed a 5,000 page spending bill that was handed to them an hour earlier.

Several foreign governments each got several hundred million dollars and working tax payers who have been crushed by government guidelines got $600 a piece.

because Congress is a hyper-partisan mess - only able to crap out a YUGE bill when it's gets too constipated

I agree completely. We know the repubs wanted zero stimulous money so the $600.00 is a compromise on their part. We live in an economy based on consumption and people need money to consume which is the fundamental fact of the situation. Without consumers having money there is no economy. Without serious stimulous money the economy will take much longer to recover. Republicans talking fiscal responsibility right now is only a disasterous attempt by republicans to sabotage Biden with a really bad economy.
 
Cruz tweeted earlier that it is "ABSURD" to have "a $2.5 trillion spending bill negotiated in secret and then—hours later—demand an up-or-down vote on a bill nobody has had time to read."

Paul targeted his own colleagues who voted for the bill and said, "When you vote to pass out free money, you lose your soul and you abandon forever any semblance of moral or fiscal integrity."

McConnell praised the relief bill on Monday, saying, "Yesterday, leaders in the Senate, in the House, and the Secretary of the Treasury reached the major agreement that struggling Americans have needed for months. We are going to pass another historic rescue package to help American families through this pandemic."

They pissed around all summer with it anyway. I’d say send me a clean bill that can actually be read in a day...and oh yeah, the $600 is a joke.

These are people who spend about half their time with their hand out expecting money or servicing the accounts, they get punished if they get uppity.

problem wit that is it hurts those truly suffering from restaurant closings. small business PPE etc

Some of the money designated to those foreign governments is for border security.
