As far as the tax cuts... yes I supported them, but as I have stated countless times, they DO NOT WORK long term without corresponding cuts in spending. But I know, you are going to pretend I have never stated that... right?
The tax cuts ARE stimulus to the economy in the short run, but require spending cuts to be economically feasible in the long run.
Similar to the stimulus this time around. They are stop gaps in the short run, but if you do not have any type of long term solutions as a part of the stimulus then you eventually get back to pissing in the wind.

I would be cool with allowing people who can prove the means to opt out to also be allowed to opt out. If we are going to means test in one way, means testing in another way is valid.
I think that sort of means testing has to be done on a repeating basis. I know people who had lots of money before the burst and lost the bulk of it. But in theory I think that kind of means testing could work well too.
