Social media platform Bluesky nearing 25 million users in continued post-election growth

The remora of JPP
Social media platform Bluesky has nearly 25 million users, continuing to grow after the election as some people look for alternatives to X.

When X owner Elon Musk originally purchased Twitter for $44 billion in October 2022 and sought to overhaul the platform to fit his "free speech absolutist" vision, several platforms old and new vied to become the landing place for people looking to leave the site. Mastodon and Instagram's Threads were some of the original top contenders in the race, but none have been able to firmly take hold as X's top competition.
The push to leave X seemed to have taken on renewed force when Donald Trump won the presidential election, as Musk has been appointed to a leadership role in the President-elect's upcoming administration. At the same time, Bluesky, a decentralized platform that has a similar look and feel to Twitter, saw new signups in droves.

According to the Bluesky User Count, the platform has 24.3 million users total as of Thursday, an increase of approximately 10 million since Election Day.

Apparently people are also migrating away from the crown jewel of his automotive stable too.
Seems owners are not getting the expected reactions.

What?
Oh sorry, a lot of them seem like they expected something like this:

It is good to have multiple outlets, not just one.
Agreed. The more the merrier. The problem is that, like cable news channels, most people will engage in confirmation bias by only sticking with the platform/channel that they like, not the ones that they can learn from.

My bet is, as I am fond of saying, 100% backing, 50% lacking. That is, there may be 24.whatever million registered users but there are likely less than 12 million actual ones using the service. Given Bluesky's propensity to ban users, it's probably less.

A safe space for the slaves I figure.

That's good. Part of making America great again involves there being plenty of competition. Bluesky caters to the now nearly 25 million terrified snowflakes who absolutely need a safe-space platform, complete with several layers of protective censorship to shield users from conservative views, Trump's accomplishments, and all other disruptive influences to the mindless leftist collective.

X, on the other hand, continues to be far too dangerous, allowing its nearly one billion active users to post with practically complete freedom. There is far too much risk for vulnerable, thenthitive leftists who are at the point of leaving the country to be exposed to raw, naked truth. It's a good thing that Bluesky came along.

Right, the terrified snowflakes who are afflicted with Severe Combined Veritadeficiency were at risk of severely debilitating TDS reactions if even a drop of truth were to enter their individual bubbles. Obviously those users could not remain on X.

Mastodon and Instagram's Threads were some of the original top contenders in the race, but none have been able to firmly take hold as X's top competition.
Nobody has taken hold as X's competition, and all platforms that rule under censorship will eventually fall by the wayside. Not until other completely free speech platorms emerge will X have any real competition.

If by "push to leave having taken on a renewed force" you mean "surge in active users approaching one billion" then yes, that's accurate.

Absolutely. In fact, Bluesky's active user base has exceeded 2% of X's active user base. Hear! Hear!

Most are migrating away from president Musk's outlet. He is losing users.
You must have taken up residence in a Bluesky safe space. Too funny.

X will continue to amass users and be the single dominant platform on the planet. X is gaining users at a far greater rate than the rate at which users are leaving. If users are leaving X in droves, then X is acquiring users in boatloads.
