Special counselor Robert Mueller added a top New York prosecutor to his team investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election who also happened to be an official who worked for fired U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Andrew Goldstein of the Southern District of New York has been selected to join the probe, according to multiple reports late Friday.

So along with a handful of Clinton donors, Mueller hires a federal prosecutor whose former boss was fired by Trump.

It definitely has that potential.

Democrats need to keep in mind they need independents. They will get nowhere throwing red meat to the rabid anti-Trump left or their fellow partisans. Most fair-minded independents and blue collar democrats will see that Mueller is loading the dice against Trump.

It has backfire written all over it.
