Well, they don't do funny satire anymore. They do seem to, like MSDNC, just repeat the same anti Trump stuff over and over ad infinitum...

There was a time that some dude played Janet Reno and they sometimes were funny. Then GWB came along and they built a habit of only hacking at W... then Obama, whom they would never satire further pushed them into only dragging republicans into more and more absurd off base angry rants that had nothing to do with reality... Since the 90s all they do is pretend that no matter how far from reality they get if it insults republicans it is "funny"...

I mean, 50 first Weekends at Brandon's White House would be a treasure trove to the 80s and 90s SNL writers, but now? Nah... Just have someone sorta dress like tRump and then say inane things that do not have enough truth in them to be funny and you have a whole episode of SNL, add a craptacular lip syncher and you have the entire show.

Alec Baldwin did a perfect satire of Trump.

It changes nothing about what I said. And no. He did a semi-decent impression without satire. Satire has some basis in truth that makes it funny, nothing they were doing at that time had any basis in truth, it took all the funny away. He would just come out, say crap that Trump wouldn't say and act like he thinks folks believed Trump acted (semi-decent impression, but definitely no satire)... I really wish it was funny, good writing could have used Trump so well, and Biden... GEEBUS he's a gold mine. But they don't. They just reset and rinse and repeat on the same lame stuff, throw in some lip synching "singer" and they think they've got something good. There's a reason hardly anyone watches SNL anymore. It's because they aren't funny (hint).

Though I will say the segments where the two dudes trade jokes for the other to read... That's funny.

I watched SNL from their very first show. They were never as funny as people think.
