Game of Thrones showrunners and HBO are apologizing for using George W. Bush's head on a stake in Season 1 scenes of the hit show.

It was a prop. But it looked like the former president.

Here's what happened: Show creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss said that they used a fake decapitated head when Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) shows Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) a row of traitors' heads on pikes.

"People may not have noticed this but back up ... the last head on the left is George Bush," the creators say in a DVD commentary.

Craig Eaton, chairman of the Brooklyn Republican Party, says he is disgusted by the move. "Whether you like him or dislike him, whether you're of the same political persuasion or not, we still have to respect the office of the presidency and all of those who hold that presidency," Eaton said, calling for it to be removed, and for a boycott...

No, lol.
I told my family the same bullshit when he began America's genocide in the Middle East. "He is our president, and even if we disagree we need to respect the office."
Bullshit. Respect must be earned, not assumed.

So if Obama's "head" had been used instead of Bush's, that'd be OK?

Absolutely .. and in fact it may be more appropriate.

Obama is at war with planet earth .. and he's killing American citizens without trial.

His drones are raining down on the heads of INNOCENT women, children, and BABIES thousands of miles from our shores.

Libya was a peaceful country with citizens who enjoyed the highest standard of living in all of Africa .. even higher than Brazil and Russia. Libyans enjoyed benefits from their government that American seniors would have an orgasm just thinking about.

Libya had no national debt and no Rothschild bank. Now they have both.

Libya is a destroyed nation now .. thanks in large part to the guy you don't think belongs on the HBO stake.

And by the way, our soldiers are killing themselves at record levels.

While we disagree on many things, I do truly respect the fact that you stay true to your beliefs regardless of whom is in office. Not many do.

Most lefties on this board do not support that thought.

I disagree. The premise isn't that ALL lefties are independent of party; just that they are much moreso than righties in general. While there are certainly lefties on the board who are loyal to party, there are notable examples who are not. I wouldn't say the same of board righties.

This is something the right has traditionally mocked the left about historically, btw - particularly during conventions.

I'd boycott HBO if I ever watched anything on the shitty network. Bill Maher is about the only thing worth watching and that barely stacks up.

What saddens me most about the left .. my own side of the political fence .. is our failure to stand up.

Obama is every bit the warmonger that George Bush was. Where are the massive antiwar demonstrations? It appears that they were only anti-Bush-wars.

Obama is a corporatist. The Occupy movement never mentioned his name.

How do you kill an American citizen without trial without the left losing its mind?

You let a democrat do it.

How do you attack Africa without the African-American community losing its mind?

You'll need a black face for that.

What we see before us has been designed.

Where were the massive war demonstrations during Bush's 2nd term? With an exception or 2, they simply didn't exist. The massive demonstrating came mainly within the 1st year of the Iraq War. War fatigue took over after that.

During Bush's 2nd term, protests became local, and they still are. We have 3 spots in my area where protesters always congregated on weekends during the Bush years, and I still pass those same protesters every weekend today. It's an exaggeration & misconception that there were massive protests throughout Bush's tenure.

The anti-war left - people like yourself - are some of the most principled people I know. One of my favorite local bumper stickers is "I'm even against the NEXT war." People who are anti-war tend to just be anti-war, regardless of party. The only military intervention I have supported in my lifetime is Afghanistan, and I have come to regret that support profoundly. I opposed every one of Clinton's actions, as well as Obama's.
