I have always found it dubious that the police had no idea what his motive was.

I do believe it is likely that they know but for various reasons they are not letting it out.

One thing that makes this seem plausible is that ISIS has tripled down on claiming credit for this, which also seems odd.

Is the FBI holding out on disclosing motive because they want to hunt down co conspirators? Are they afraid of triggering hidden cells already here?

He certainly doesn't fit the profile, I want to know what was in the letter he left and about his girlfriend who apparently has two social security numbers, I will wait for the investigators to make a statement regarding motive, but the Sheriff's comment regarding potential radicalization is interesting and even Hugh Hewitt (a moderate Conservative) said this morning that the fact that it hasn't been ruled out yet has his spidey sense tingling.
 
It's fits the profile of a jihadist attack---except there's no smoking gun.

ISIS has tripled down on their claim but without a smoking gun it's all speculation. Let's see the tape of the shooter getting his jihad on then I'll jump on board.

One thing that is really interesting is that there was a report the other day that he fired two shots into fuel containers not too far away which is why he broke out the window. Was he trying to trigger an explosion? If he was, it was stupid jet fuel doesn't blow up that way.

But, if it is true, that would fit with the jihadi tactic of doing one thing to draw people into it and then setting them up for another attack.

Who knows, but I think it is very fishy that they don't have a motive at this point, or haven't revealed it
 
The letter, reportedly, wasn't a letter but rather a bunch of numbers they're trying to figure out.
Looks like ISIS has gotten smarter and are covering their web activity now which is why this info is not public.
