Chairman Richard J. Durbin (D-Ill.) said it was “a proud day for America” as the Senate Judiciary Committee began four days of hearings on the nomination of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, a historic choice by President Biden as he moves to fulfill his pledge to put the first Black woman on the Supreme Court in its 233-year history.

All 22 committee members are expected to give opening statements Monday. Then two people will introduce Jackson and the nominee will speak.

Just another leftists, pick em by their pigment and private parts.

Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.) defended Jackson’s record, saying she wasn’t “groomed in partisan petri dishes.”

Whitehouse noted that Jackson, before clerking for Justice Stephen G. Breyer, clerked for U.S. District Court for Rhode Island Judge Bruce Selya, who was nominated by President Ronald Reagan.

“He is well regarded by the bench and bar and he thinks the world of Judge Jackson,” Whitehouse said.

Whitehouse recalled Selya calling Jackson “absolutely everything you would want in a Supreme Court justice.”
