Scientists are sounding the alarm about a dangerous problem that will soon affect 2 billion people — here’s what to know

As the world has gotten hotter, more people are exposed to dangerously high temperatures each year. Recent findings published in Nature Sustainability show that without policy changes, the world will heat up enough by the end of the century that more than 2 billion people will live in life-threatening hot climates, as Science Hub reported.

What’s happening?

So far, the world’s average temperature has risen by just under 1.2 degrees Celsius (about 2 degrees Fahrenheit) above preindustrial level due to human activity, according to Science Hub. The Paris Agreement — an international treaty to limit heat-trapping gases produced by each country and stop the world from getting hotter — proposed to cap the increase at 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit.

However, the new study found that with the current laws, population growth, and environmental conditions, the world will likely reach about 4.8 degrees Fahrenheit above the preindustrial benchmark, per Science Hub.

The researchers then looked at which areas would be most affected if the temperature increased to that level. They defined “unprecedented heat” zones as areas where the average temperature throughout the year, counting all seasons, is 84.2 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.

Science Hub reported that 40 years ago, only 12 million people worldwide lived in regions with temperatures surpassing that heat. Today, thanks to the warming we’ve already experienced, about 60 million people are affected.

The study found that by 2100, 2 billion out of the world’s projected population of 9.5 billion will live in areas with an average temperature higher than 84.2 degrees Fahrenheit. The most affected areas will be countries around the equator, noted Science Hub: India, Nigeria, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Pakistan.

Nothing we do can stop climate change. It is a natural occurrence driven mostly by the sun. The Earth will heat up and cool down as it always has. Learn to love it because you wont be doing anything about it. YOU CANT.

I agree w/ you. This is something that doesn't get talked about much.

Even if man stopped ALL emissions right now - cold turkey - it would still be over a century before there would be any discernible difference.

HOWEVER - that doesn't mean we can ignore the health of the planet. We are not living sustainably right now, and protecting the environment & its resources. We still need to change the way we do things significantly.

"Climate change" is nothing new. Animals, plants and humans cope by migrating. This is soooo obvious! It has always been that way. :palm:

White libs are so fucking stupid. If not for climate change, they'd be living on top of a glacier.

Guess what happened when the glaciers subsided, ... MIGRATION!

When Canada and Siberia get warmer, history shows that more people will move there. It is shocking how dense leftists are.

Gee,...well duh .... I wonder what could be affecting our climate and temps here on Earth? Cow farts maybe ?

This old song again??? Sheesh. Climate 'scientists' ignore theories of science. Religion is NOT science.
As the world has gotten hotter,
It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.
more people are exposed to dangerously high temperatures each year.
People live in areas as hot as 134 deg F. No problem. Many places in summer reach temperatures exceeding 90 deg F. No problem.

There it is, all hanging out pink and naked. The goal is to implement 'policy changes' (tyranny), based on a Pascal's Wager fallacy.
that more than 2 billion people will live in life-threatening hot climates,
What is life threatening about a summer day?
as
Science Hub reported.

They can't measure the temperature of the Earth either.
What’s happening?
Nothing. Absolutely nothing.

Random numbers. It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth. Again, your goal is to destroy industry. To take us back to a 'simpler time', when people DIED due to exposure, poor living and medical conditions, poor housing, poor sanitation, etc. ALL alleviated by industry. It is industry that created the computer you are typing this on, ingrate.
Meh. Like I said, they cannot measure Earth's temperature. I don't go in for 'gloom and doom' predictions, particularly from the Church of Global Warming.
The Paris Agreement — an international treaty to limit heat-trapping gases produced by each country and stop the world from getting hotter — proposed to cap the increase at 2.7 degrees Fahrenheit.
It is not possible to trap heat. No Magick Holy Gas has this capability. You cannot create energy out of nothing. You are ignoring the 1st law of thermodynamics again.

There is no 'benchmark' since there is no data.
The researchers then looked at which areas would be most affected if the temperature increased to that level. They defined “unprecedented heat” zones as areas where the average temperature throughout the year, counting all seasons, is 84.2 degrees Fahrenheit or higher.
So you don't like summer days. Meh.
Science Hub reported that 40 years ago, only 12 million people worldwide lived in regions with temperatures surpassing that heat.
Heat has no temperature. Learn what 'heat' means.
Today, thanks to the warming we’ve already experienced, about 60 million people are affected.
What warming? It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth.

People can move, and human populations are going into steep decline...this is not an existential problem even if true, which is not likely.

Just a few decades ago these same experts were claiming the exact opposite, that planet freezing was going to happen.

Climate cannot change. It is not possible to measure the temperature of the Earth. How do you know Earth has warmed or cooled at all??
You ARE correct that 'terraforming' is not possible. These losers in the Church of Global Warming don't seem to get that.

There would be NO difference. No gas or vapor has the capability to warm the Earth.

What do you mean by 'sustainable'? What resources?

Both oil and natural gas, for example, are renewable fuels. The supply is only as limited as our willingness to tap it. The Earth is a giant Fischer-Tropsche reactor.
Due to improved farming practices and more people on the planet, we raise more food than ever before. It still rains and snows, so there is still fresh water.

"Climate change" is nothing new. Animals, plants and humans cope by migrating. This is soooo obvious! It has always been that way. :palm:

Climate cannot change. It has caused NO migrations. Climate has no temperature, rainfall gauge, or any other value that can 'change'. Climate is a subjective description only. It has no values associated with it.

Birds (and some people) migrate with the changing seasons. Plants can't migrate. They've put down roots, you know.

Climate cannot change. This glacier and ice sheet map is speculation and does not describe a climate. Climate has no temperature, and no thickness of ice.
Assuming ice ages exist and come and go at a regular interval, this is not climate at all. It's just expanding and contracting ice sheets.

People will live most anywhere. No problems. The next 'ice age' isn't due for thousands of years. This is also a strawman. The Church of Global Warming insists that a Magick Holy Gas is somehow able to heat the Earth due to it's mere presence. They ignore the 1st law of thermodynamics.

Gee,...well duh .... I wonder what could be affecting our climate and temps here on Earth? Cow farts maybe ?

There is no such thing as a global climate. Climate has no temperature.

Yes, the output of the Sun and our distance to it does affect the temperature of the Earth (which is unknown). It's a simple matter of the inverse square law applied over the distance between the Earth and the Sun and the total output of the Sun in the infrared range.
