First of all, Obama is a highly educated Harvard man, Bush was educated at both Harvard and Yale. They are arguably two of the worst presidents in modern history.... so much for the theory that smart men are better for the job. What's even more interesting, Washington and Lincoln, arguably two of our greatest presidents of all time, never attended college. Michelle Bachmann has more foreign policy experience than Carter, Reagan, Clinton, George W. Bush and Obama combined. So is that your 'measure' of what makes a president great?
My measure of what a president of the USA should or should not be is irrelevant.
I see a string of presidents from Eisenhower to Clinton who somehow managed to keep America at the forefront of world politics. I see perhaps the most stupid man ever to be manipulated into the position, bush, destroy decades of good and not so good management in eight short years. And I see one, undoubtedly, smart and intelligent man who has devoted much of his life to his country and who had no dynastic backing doing his best to claw back some of the respect and foreign trade destroyed by GWBush.
We honestly watch in wonder at the ridiculous attempts to unseat a man who has, in two years, earned back much of the respect of the world.
Now there is a sort of parallel here with Thatcher of the UK. Overseas the creature was adored but she did more to divide the United Kingdom than any leader before or since (although the latest incumbent is doing his best to bring in the same divisive policies, but without the support of an American president).
I guess we can't have both overseas and home popularity. But believe me, and perhaps you are not fully aware of this, bush really did screw up your overseas relations. I am sure you realise that without exports your economy cannot prosper. Obama's policies, if you allow them, will make your country more successful. Nothing to do with republicanism or democat - ism.
Your priorities must be foreign trade. Not abortions, same sex marriages, gun ownership. These should not be in the political arena.
Do you honestly consider that you country was better after eight years of bush than it was before? Honestly?
