Sarah Palin

No one has to tell me the importance of choosing the right words! When dating, after my divorce, I quickly learned one wrong word could mean the difference between a ticket to Heaven or going home alone. :(

See, there you go again.
The phrase "a ticket to heaven" could be understood as someone dying.

Would you please choose your words more carefully?

No one is talking about silencing speech.

Perhaps an analogy will help. When in a court room and the Judge asks if one has anything to say that person is permitted to speak freely. That does not mean the person is permitted to curse and swear or threaten the Judge.

Also, there is a line between free speech and slander. Why shouldn't there be a line between stating opinions in a civilized manner as opposed to using metaphors connoting* violence and harm?

* Connoting: to signify or suggest (certain meanings, ideas, etc.) in addition to the explicit or primary meaning: The word “fireplace” often connotes hospitality, warm comfort, etc. (Dic.com)

That is silencing free speech, sorry.

The problem with your pinhead idea is well illustrated with this very example! We have a set of people who think Palin's usage of surveyor marks on a map "connotes" violence, and we have a set of people who think that is ridiculous. So, who decides what "connotes" violence, dunderhead? Do we litigate everything everyone says and let a jury decide? What might "connote" violence to you, probably doesn't "connote" violence to everyone, so there is not a way to do this and avoid restricting someone's right to speak.

Let me explain to you what is going to happen with this. Pinhead morons like yourself, are going to continue to perpetuate lies and distortions about Palin, and this will further polarize the right and left, and at the same time, begin to dramatically turn off libertarians and moderates, so the end result is the demise of your party and the end of liberalism as we know it. From my perspective, I want you people to keep this ginned up, keep flapping your yaps about it, keep pissing off potential voters and helping conservatives. The more idiots like you talk, the better off conservatives are! Viva La Free Speech!
