Ukraine has been offered numerous surrender windows. Feeding Ukraine with NATO weaponry is tantamount to America fighting Russia to the last Ukrainian.

The Russian Defense Ministry has called on the remaining Ukrainian forces, besieged at a steel plant in the coastal city of Mariupol, to lay down their arms, offering safety guarantees, if they accept the proposal and halt all hostilities on Sunday morning.

“Considering the catastrophic situation at the Azovstal metallurgical plant, and being guided by purely humane principles, the Russian Armed Forces offer militants of nationalist battalions and foreign mercenaries to stop hostilities and lay down their arms starting 6am Moscow time on April 17, 2022,” the Russian Defense Ministry said in a late-night announcement on Saturday.

“All who lay down their weapons are guaranteed the preservation of life,” the ministry stated.

Earlier on Saturday, Moscow revealed its estimate of Ukrainian casualty numbers, claiming that in the city of Mariupol alone, Kiev has lost more than 4,000 combatants, including “foreign mercenaries” and “Nazis” associated with the notorious Azov and Aidar regiments.

This "incursion" into Ukraine was supposed to be a cake walk for Russia, just a few days and they would control the capital and the entire country. In reality it has been a complete disaster for the Russians in terms of men and equipment. Long ago they gave up any hope of capturing the capital city.

I would call this a total and complete embarrassment for Russia. With their massive army, and weaponry, they have failed miserably to conquer Ukraine. What was supposed to be a walk in th park, conquest, has turned into a Russian fiasco. Kudos to NATO and Biden for supplying weapons and ammunition.

I think it would be appropriate to offer Putin life imprisonment rather than capital punishment.......but only because I don't believe in capital punishment......

It is not uniquely Slavic. America should have learned that lesson in Afghanistan, Vietnam and Iraq. They will eventually drive you out. It is their homeland and people fight hard to protect it and their families. Putin is creating future generations of blood and strife.

The reason we remember Thermopolae 2,500 years later not because it was a tactical Persian victory.

We remember is because it resonates through the ages as an unyielding defense of Greek democracy against the dark forces of tyranny.

Of course Paris, Prague, Copenhagen fell to the Nazis practically on a whim or with barely a shot being fired, so I don't think it is a foregone conclusion that people will tenaciously resist against overwhelming odds.
