First ship carrying Ukrainian grain leaves Odesa port
Turkey’s defence ministry says the first ship carrying Ukrainian grain has set off from the port of Odesa.

The Sierra Leone-flagged cargo ship, Razoni, left for Lebanon, the ministry said. A statement from the United Nations said the Razoni is carrying more than 26,000 tonnes of maize.

Data from the Razoni’s Automatic Identification System, a safety tracker for ships at sea, showed the vessel slowly coming out from its berth at Odesa port on Monday morning alongside a tug boat.

In everybody's interests.

What did Russia get in return ?

“As for the departure of the first ship, this is very positive. A good opportunity to test the effectiveness of the mechanisms that were agreed during talks in Istanbul,” Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters, citing the deal reached by Russia and Ukraine last month on resuming exports from the latter’s Black Sea ports.

“Let’s hope that all the agreements will be implemented from all sides, and that the mechanism will work effectively.”

Ah-- Thick Lizzie- who is set to become the unelected prime minister of the UK and leader of a party saturated with shameful criminality and sleaze.

It's fitting that you should quote such an effigy of a decent politician.

The quickest way to alleviate the world food crises is for Putin to withdraw from his invasion.

So Russia invades Ukraine and stops all grain exports. You then want people to give Russia something in return when they let the grain exports start up?

If Russia hadn't invaded the grain exports would have never stopped. It's like demanding we congratulate the bully because he didn't kick the other kid once he beat him unconscious.

It's NATO's war and NATO has imposed sanctions on Russia. In response, Russia has taken control of the territory which threatens it. The grain will earn revenue for the Zelenskies who are trying to kill Russians- yet the Russians, in sympathy with the people who have no food, are allowing the grain exports.
So yes, Russia should have something in return.
I was asking what it was, not if anything had been given.

NATO didn't invade Ukraine. Russia did.
Ukraine didn't invade Russia. Russia invade Ukraine.
So Russia is the bad actor and you think what they did was OK and they should be rewarded for acting badly. Got it.

NATO invaded politically by way of a US-led coup. Next would have been the installation of missiles aimed at Russia. That is the Russian view. They explained it to NATO. NATO ignored it.
