How Russia Lost '200,000 Soldiers' in Ukraine

Pavel Luzin, a Russian political analyst and visiting scholar said that such colossal casualties had damaged the "organizational integrity" of the Russian Armed Forces. Russia has lost not only soldiers, but also many officers on the battlefield in Ukraine.

"Russia lost a generation of officers, especially if we speak about bottom-level officers like lieutenants and captains," Luzin added. "The most professional units have been lost already, and most of them [were] lost in the first six months of the war."

Poor leadership within the Kremlin is partly to blame for the death toll, said Luzin, noting that Russian military chiefs played only a minor role during planning for the war.

"The main role was played by intelligence officers around Vladimir Putin, by FSB guys and so on. They believed they needed [Russia's] Armed Forces just for fire support. They believed that they [had] the situation in Ukraine under their control," he said.

But reality turned out to be vastly different to what the Russian Armed Forces were expecting, said Luzin. "The military leadership commanders were not prepared for this. And that's why they lost so many elite troops.

I wonder how many Ukrainians has been killed?

The Ukrainians wonder how many more Ukrainians would be killed if they surrender. That is why they fight on. Russians wonder why they have to attack a foreign country, and that is why they fight so poorly.

So I wonder how many Ukrainians have been killed, I am guessing at least double that. It will take a generation or more before the wounds start to heal.

I wonder how many Ukrainians has been killed?

The Russians have been massacring Ukrainian civilians, both adults and kids, by the thousands.

No doubt you masturbate to that thought, dipshit. How did the Royal Thai Police treat you? Did you get enough rice every day?

Salty, I have been supporting the Ukrainians from the very start, as you very well fucking know!! So stop being a prick for once in your life and answer the question. No doubt we will all know in the fullness of time anyway.

Do you also wonder why a war that was only supposed to last a couple of days, has all but destroyed the Russian military and has shown what a 3rd world army they are?

You're truly a dangerously deficient deviant, with the memory retention of a fucking goldfish.

All the more reason Putin won't come to the table now and leave all that plus a settlement as his legacy.

You quoted yourself, dumbass.

When you are finally hauled off to a Thai prison and left to rot, I’ll be happy. All anti-American foreigners deserve to be taken down.

Ukrainians are fighting a defensive war, and are more motivated, so fewer soldiers, but are fighting on their own ground, so more civilians. If they fight to defend themselves, it will take a generation to heal. If they just give up and commit suicide, they will never heal. They are picking the rational option.

Can you point to any post I've made in the last 18 months that disagrees with any of that? I know that you're anxious to start a fight but go look for an adversary elsewhere, Salty.

Agreed. It usually takes a 3-to-1 advantage to attack a defensive position. This is one reason why the Russians failed so miserably when they first invaded. They didn’t have the manpower, training or equipment since the Russian Army had been gutted by Putin and his Oligarchs.

This 3-to-1 ratio will flip-flop once the Ukrainians take the offensive and the Russians dig in to the Separatist areas. Since it’s still Ukrainian territory and not all Ukrainians in those territories are pro-Russian, especially after the atrocities, the Ukrainians will still have a “home turf” advantage.

The recent attacks inside Russia are interesting. In some respects it’s like the Doolittle Raid on Tokyo during WWII since I suspect it will cause the Russians to pull back forces to defend the homeland. The reduces the military capability they can project into Ukraine giving the Ukrainians a better home field advantage.

Be able to hit, or come close to hitting Moscow is a major move by the Ukrainians. They are also using that capability to hit logistic hubs far behind the line, even into Russia proper. This means that when the Ukrainian offensive begins, the Russian troops will have severe shortages.

The Russians seem to be depending partly on shock troops. They take a recruit, whether drafted, grabbed at work, or taken out of prison, give him a day of military training, give him a gun, and pump him full of drugs. If done right, that can win territory, with losses among people that Putin does not care about. If done wrong, they will be mowed down by machine guns, and do nothing but force the Ukrainians to spend $10 worth of bullets to kill each one.

Maybe I am too hopeful, but there is a real possibility that Ukraine will be able to cross the Dnieper River, and make for the Black Sea, cutting the land route from Russia to Crimea. Western river crossing military tech, while untested, is very good. If it works out, a big if, then a major Ukrainian victory is possible.
