Ukraine War: Russia warns Sweden and Finland against Nato membership

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov warned against Nato enlargement, saying it would not aid European stability

Russia has warned Finland and Sweden against joining Nato, arguing the move would not bring stability to Europe.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters that "the alliance remains a tool geared towards confrontation".
Before it launched its invasion, Russia demanded that the alliance agree to halt any future enlargement.
Last week Mr Peskov said that Russia would have to "rebalance the situation" with its own measures were Sweden and Finland to join Nato.

I think the Baltic States couldn’t agree less with you, and if anything, prevented Putin from launching attacks on his Western neighbors before this, sure they Ukraine now wished they had that option available

Never, ever was any NATO state in any danger.

It was the defacto state of Ukraine being hyper-militarized that the Lavrov letters mentioned
that were an intolerable thorn in the side of Russia

The armored reserves from NATO cant come thru the Baltics - then can hit Russia by land as well thru Ukraine

With European airspace closed, crossing Russia's border with Finland, Estonia or Latvia are among the only routes out of the country, as long as travellers have the necessary visas.

Never compared the two, and to think that the Baltic States have never, even till this day, felt threatened by Putin’s crusade to reconstruct the Warsaw Pact and to protect his Western borders while restoring Russia is naive on your part

Putin has always had his eye on the Ukraine as the stepping stone, Crimea was just the beginning, he has worked laboriously to tarnish and corrupt the Ukraine upon the world stage in anticipation of this move.
