Russia has 'unleashed chemical weapons on Mariupol' with Ukrainian troops reporting they are suffering breathing issues and dizziness - as the besieged port city's mayor reveals more than 10,000 civilians have died in the conflict so far.

The unidentified agent is said to have been dropped on the city from a Russian drone, according to unverified reports from the city's Azov regiment.

Details of the assault, via the Telegram messaging app, say a 'poisonous substance of unknown origin' has led to the city's defenders suffering from symptoms including breathing issues, 'respiratory failure' and 'vestibulo-atactic syndrome'.

One has to always question a report where other than the headline and one sentence the vast majority of the article talks about everything but what the headline implied

There are very good reasons why chemical weapons are almost never used on the battlefield.

But hey, this is 2022...almost no one this deeply into this dark age cares what the truth is.

If the Russians were to use chemical weapons there wouldn't be any Ukrainian soldiers left to report it.

Reports of coughing and headaches are best made to the medics- not the newspapers.

Nah, he don't give a rat's ass about a possible chemical attack, he is just attempting to find a wedge issue so he can say that Biden either is taking us to war or chickening out on a red line. For "copy," it has nothing to do with the Ukraine, nor even chemical attacks, rather just all about Biden
