Russian authorities reiterate periodically that they stand ready to renew cooperation with Washington on Syria and, more globally, on fighting terrorism.
it's pro forma
one of the very few venues we cooperate with them is on terrorism..I saw that, but it's Reuters lol.
But the fact they'd even reiterate is seems counter to the narrative that we are at total odds with them.

we held joint exercises a year or 2 ago -i don't know if we still do -once a year..
It does show Cold War 2.0 is not set in stone -we choose that path
excellent analysis.Agreed.
Which was kind of my point: the world has changed greatly since 40-50 years ago. Stalinist communism has been relegated to the historical trash heap and Islam was just another religion in those days---radical Islam didn't exist until the late 70's.
With the current geopolitical landscape [dominated by radical Islam] we'll always have a potential partner in Russia since we share a common enemy.
I'm sure both Putin and Trump see it the same way.
excellent analysis.
General Flynn saw it much the same way -where are the real threats? not from Moscow, but radical Islam.
