EVACUATIONS HALTED TWICE IN MARIUPOL OVER WEEKEND
On Saturday, Russia had declared a brief ceasefire in Mariupol and Volnovakha to allow civilians to exit. "Today, on March 5 at 10 am Moscow time, the Russian side declares a ceasefire and opens humanitarian corridors for the exit of civilians from Mariupol and Volnovakha," the Russian defence ministry said, as per Russian state-owned news agency Sputnik.

However, this quickly fell apart after Ukrainian officials said shelling had halted the work to remove civilians hours after Russia announced the deal.

On Sunday, Russia declared that humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of civilians from the Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Volnovakha would be reopened."

Ukraine rejects humanitarian corridors that lead to Russia

Ukraine's Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk has said a Russian proposal to evacuate civilians out of Kyiv, Kharkiv, Mariupol and Sumy is not an acceptable option as the humanitarian corridors mostly lead to Russian cities.

Earlier on Monday, Russia proposed six humanitarian corridors. Three of them exited to Russian cities, one to Belarus and two to central and southeastern Ukraine.

Vereshchuk called on Russia to agree to a cease-fire from Monday morning to allow Ukrainians to evacuate toward the western Ukrainian city of Lviv instead.

Ukraine received Russia's proposal early on Monday morning after French President Emmanuel Macron held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Vereshchuk told a televised briefing.

"I hope that French President Emmanuel Macron understands that his name and sincere desire to help... in reality is being used and manipulated by the Russian Federation," she said.

LVIV, Ukraine (AP) — Russia announced a yet another cease-fire and a handful of humanitarian corridors to allow civilians to flee Ukraine starting Monday, but previous such measures have fallen apart and Moscow’s armed forces continued to pummel some Ukrainian cities with rockets even after the announcement.

A day earlier, hundreds of thousands of civilians attempting to flee to safety were forced to shelter from what Ukrainian officials said was ***Russian*** shelling in cities in the center, north and south.

Ahead of a third round of talks planned for Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry said a cease-fire would start in the morning, and safe passages would open for civilians from the capital of Kyiv, the southern port city of Mariupol, and the cities of Kharkiv and Sumy. Some of the evacuation routes, however, would funnel civilians toward Russia or its ally Belarus — unlikely destinations for many Ukrainians who would prefer to head toward countries on the western and southern borders.

Putin’s eyes have always been creepy but they now look as if he is on drugs.

A terrifying thought.

Ukraine rejects offer of humanitarian corridors to Russia

Ukraine dismissed Moscow’s offer to set up humanitarian corridors from several bombarded cities on Monday after it emerged some routes would lead refugees into Russia or Belarus.

The Russian proposal of safe passage from Kharkiv, Kyiv, Mariupol and Sumy had come after terrified Ukrainian civilians came under fire in previous ceasefire attempts.

When these NATOwashed dumbasses read ' Ukrainian refugees being shelled ' it doesn't even occur to them that they may be pro-Russian Ukrainians headed for Russia or Belarus being attacked by Ukrainian neo-Nazis.

to be clear Im not sure of the shelling one way or the other -who knows.

But why would Uk reject those corridors? makes no sense. Of course they probably mostly Russian speaking or pro-Russia if they are on the Russian border or east Uk.

We're all dependent upon the media.

Pure spite, I guess. They've been shelling pro-Russians for eight years after all.
