The new state polls don't reflect the full impact of this week's firestorm over remarks Romney made at a private fundraiser where he disparaged nearly half the country as people who "see themselves as victims," pay no federal income tax and feel entitled to federal benefits.
The poll was conducted Sept. 16-18; a video of that fundraiser gained national media exposure Sept. 17.
