Romney loses, what now for Republicans?

The writing is on the wall and Obama will beat Romney. I still think that Romney likely wins the popular vote.

Obama was running under 50% approval. The unemployment rate has run at 8% for almost 4 years, 50 million people on food stamps. Exit polls showed that stopping Obamacare is favored by voters. Romney was favored as far as who can help the economy more. So with all these unfavorables for Obama what carried Obama to a win?

I have my own opinion, and my opinions may sound harsh, but they are true. What put Obama over was the black vote and the young 18-22 year old vote. Personally, I am bothered greatly because I will bet 90% of these black voters never voted before Obama was a candidate, and most voted based on skin color and not on issues. I will use the 14% unemployment rate among blacks to back me up. The young voters, I fear vote for the "rock star", and don't really vote on the issues.

This question is mainly for fellow republicans? What do we do as a party? If the democrats keep putting hip rock star black candidates, they will lock up the young & black vote.

What do we do to be competitive, as a party? For me, it's clear, we have to fight fire with fire. We need to develop young republicans, and go after young vote. We need to develop black strong candidates to take part of the black vote.

Obama will now have a dem controlled senate, so if he fails he has no excuses. Here is my fear, and I hope I am wrong-

1- I fear Obamacare is going to be a crippling and devastating blow to our country. We will not have enough to pay for it. I don't even want to think about it.

2- our natl debt is going to bury us, and we will not be able to dig out

3- energy costs will continue to climb

4- a recession or depression is coming

5- untold threats around the world and Iran nuclear dilemma

I predict that by the end of Obamas next term, this country will deeply regret reelecting him. Again, I hope I am wrong but many republicans agree with me. Again, Romney will likely win the popular vote, which brings up the entire electoral college argument, which is a whole separate thread. But bottom line, more people will have voted against Obama than voted for him. That's a very divided country.

I am putting country before party, and again, I bet the country will regret electing Obama. I don't want to be right if it means the country is going to drop into an abyss.

So back to plans for the future, what does the Republican Party do for the future? We need to start the planning & process now. Please share your thoughts and ideas

You have to understand, most of us are not right wing nuts hung up on abortion, and for the ridiculous things they said. But you are certainly right

Republicans will attempt to drive a wedge in the minority bloc. They will do what they can to attract the Hispanic voting bloc. But I don't think they will be able to do it by trying to convert them to conservative ideas, they'll have to come to the middle.

This will further disenfranchise the far right who will lobby for a new party and become marginalized.

Or maybe that's just wishful thinking.

I can only speak for myself-

I am a moderate republican. I support the right to bare arms, but I don't believe you should be able to buy assault rifles. I am pro-life but have no interest in telling a woman what to do with her body. I have no issue with gays. I DO believe in fiscal responsibility. Things like Obamacare and adding trillions of dollars of debt are unacceptable. I believe that we should have a strong military, but I don't want a war. I want smaller govt, and less spending.

Am I in the minority as far as republican ideals and beliefs go?

What can the Republicon party do?

Squeeze your eyes together real tight, hold your breath and...

We have a GOP house, 30 GOP governors, and the popular vote is going to go republican. Somehow, Obama has defied gravity and has gotten 2 terms in a republican country.

I am not trying to play the race card, but am calling it as I see it, Obama was voted for by overwhelming numbers if blacks, again who voted for race instead of on issues. Again, if Obamas black voters voted on issues, they would have voted against 14% unemployment and 50 million people on food stamps. Obama won the youth vote who voted for the hip " rock star". Most of these 18-24 year olds live with mommy & daddy still, and don't know what it means to pay bills, or feed your kids,etc...I personally would love to see minimum voting age be 22.

I just am a little confused about the state of things

They will not get the Latino vote until the address illegal aliens in a fair way.

So morf I have to ask, what the fuck were you thinking claiming Romney was going to win PA? Was there some data you were going off of or were you literally speaking out of your ass?

Yes it is amazing how 13% of of the population, many of whom don't vote, hold so much sway in the election.

Puuuuuleeze. The "black voting bloc" has been voting in the high 80 to mid 90% democrat no matter who is running. So put the race card back in the deck and reshuffle. It's that kind of thinking that helped lose "the right" this election.

Welcome to the 21st century. Get a new game plan.

They need to call the election for Obama and give a concession speech....that's how we do it in this country.
