A dog shot by a Rogers County deputy will live, but needs a shoulder replacement or leg amputation.

Angela Laymon said she came Wednesday night and found a her dog, Bruno, bleed on her front porch.

The Rogers County Sheriff's Office left a note explaining that a deputy shot the dog.

"A deputy came over to ask some questions regarding the neighbors house and felt threatened by my dog. So he shot him on my porch. That was their story," Laymon said.

Laymon wants the county to pay for medical expenses. The dog is still alive.

The Sheriff's Office said if she wants them to cover veterinary costs, she'll have a to file a claim with the county.

once again, we see government agents don't have to accept any responsibility for where they fire bullets. thanks cop worshippers.

Generally speaking, destruction of property that is not necessary to a law official’s duties is considered an unreasonable seizure of property under the Fourth Amendment. The courts, based on the individual facts of the case, will determine whether the destruction of the property was reasonable. Although the courts will decide the reasonableness of a seizure on a case by case basis, the person considering filing a lawsuit for a pet’s death must have a general idea of whether the officer’s conduct in their particular case was unreasonable. Addressing the issues relating to immunity can accomplish this.
