BELLEVILLE, Ontario (AP) - A commander who was a rising star in Canada's military pleaded guilty Monday to the murders of two women, the sexual assaults of two others and dozens of breaking and entering charges in which he stole panties from the bedrooms of girls as young as 11.

Col. Russell Williams, who once flew prime ministers and served as a pilot to Queen Elizabeth II during a 2005 visit, was the commander of Canada's largest Air Force base until he was charged earlier this year.

He pleaded guilty Monday to two first-degree murder charges, two sexual assaults and 82 breaking and entering charges in a Belleville, Ontario court. The 47-year-old faces an automatic sentence of life in prison with no possibility for parole for at least 25 years.

Williams was expressionless and dressed in a somber dark suit, and he kept his head down as the charges were read. The list of charges was so long that it took nearly 40 minutes to read it into the record.

"Guilty, your honor," he said after the charges were entered.

Prosecutors said Williams targeted girls and women in their teens and 20s and often photographed himself in their underwear.

Only 25 years before he can start seeking parole? For killing 2 women, assaulting others? WTF?

Ahh yes. This is to be expected when we heap praise and power upon the most evil and violent people in society.

Our primitive social hierarchy is based on fear, and that sucks.

Definitely.

Its sucks you all have been brainwashed to kill for rich people. You're victims too, however. I pity you.

I don't kill anyone, as my unit has never deployed. If a plane is flying over US or Canadian airspaces with intent to attack a city, we will shoot it down, though. Is that alright with you? One thing I like about working under NORAD is that I get to participate in a mission that I truly believe in: defense of the homeland.

in some ways, canada and other nations are more civilized having done away with the death penalty

or not, think of how physically reduced he will be after 25 years of imprisonment - he will be 72 before he is eligible for parole and that does not mean that he will be paroled

the dude is sick and we have no current way of dealing with such sickness so we imprison them or in some nations, kill them

He took the ultimate right, that of life, from two victims yet has the ability to gain freedom? That doesn't appear civilized to me. While I don't support the death penalty, I also do not support sexual predator murderers from getting freedom at any age, physically depleted or not.

God revels in the decapitation of sinners, blasphemers, idolators, murderers, thieves and homosexuals. You know that.

currently, life without parole is the best that we can do other than executing sexual predators :( we have no cure

Canada doesn't have life without parole. He was given the harshest sentence possible under Canadian law. It's unlikely the parole will be granted.

Murderer's aren't necessarily insane in the traditional sense. A more modern line of thought would be that murder is a natural evolutionary adaptation that just misfires in the modern age. Maybe we can fix that in the future, but I don't think that current methods IE psychotherapy are effective at all.

hence my comment that we do not have the means to correct certain forms of behavior so the best that we can do is lock them for life or kill them :(
