Rick Perry’s Intrade Odds Spike, Mitt Romney’s Sink.
making vague threats against the Chairman of the Federal Reserve is good politics, because Rick Perry’s odds of winning the Republican nomination are spiking today.
That’s according to Intrade, the political futures market, where the Texas Governor, who just joined the race this weekend, now has nearly a 40% chance of winning the nomination next year.
Mitt Romney, long the front-runner in this race, is suddenly behind, at less than 30%. Mr. Romney’s contract is down 10% today.
A month ago, Mr. Perry’s odds were at about 15%.
Mr. Perry’s comments about Mr. Bernanke have drawn some condemnation from the right and could make some in the Republican establishment more nervous about his appeal in a general election.
But it has certainly gained a lot of attention, which the market seems to think will raise his chances of winning the nomination eventually.
