Revoke the NFL's Antitrust Exemption

Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
Football is just silly useless entertainment. It makes no sense to exempt them from any laws. If the league fails, who cares.?

sep 25 2017 Ever wonder why the price of NFL football game individual and season tickets are so prohibitively expensive, as well as the high price of official NFL gear sold on the internet or in sporting goods stores? Ever wonder why the NFL has gotten away with not disclosing the dangers inherent in the sport, and has colluded among team owners to to hide this from the players and the public — despite their having access to top notch sports physicians on their staff? I can go on and on.

Indeed, were the NFL not subject to an antitrust exemption granted to it by our compromised Congress, thanks to the sport’s lobbyists having spread “beaucoup” money all over Capitol Hill, the club of uber rich owners who make their own rules with impunity could be charged under RICO, the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act, for price fixing, market division and other illegal anti-competitive acts. As a former Justice Department Antitrust Division prosecutor who was on the trial team that broke up AT&T during the Reagan administration for price fixing and market division, take it from me!

No one cares. A great deal of Americans have watched their last NFL game. I stopped watching MLB baseball in the 90s when they used a "hot ball" and was striking all the time, I have not watched nor went to a game since that time. Now they have ruined the NFL....the last remaining sport that was worth watching as the NBA gave up the ghost decades ago when they stopped playing defense and concentrated on hiring 7 footers to camp out under the rim. I did enjoy Golf for a while....as I thought that sport was immune to scandal, but I was wrong as it seems some players were using ACE INHIBITORS to calm their nerves when putting or chipping not to mention the drinking and whoring by some of the games biggest stars. College sports is the only venue left were if anyone should be getting paid it should be there. Hell they allow the NBA and the PGA to compete in the Olympics, what's the difference....just what does it mean to be an amateur, high school?

College football won't pay the players because it's an amateur sport. But it's ok to pay the coach 5 mill a year!!

College sports? I guess you missed the recent news on Louisville, and you really didn't think all those football players from SEC schools actually went to class? The only place your going find pure amateur competition is the Ivy League, even high schools are questionable

So if you eliminate sports, and we know you can't tolerate the commies in theater, movies or television, what are your left with for entertainment and culture? No one can watch/listen to demogogues continuously

No problem, but the league ain't folding, the President's fabricated "issue" will be history by the end of November, totally forgotten a year from now
The Texan's stadium looks pretty full today. They are beating the Titans, too. Trump just hates the NFL because of his failure to procure a NFL team and his failure at creating his own league. It's a typical Trump revenge thing.

wolf.........wolf........................wolf..............................WOLF!!!

Were you raped by a black man, or something?

Almost everything you post is thick with resentment and hostility towards black men. It is so freakishly weird, that there must be some story behind your resentment.

I suggest metal health counseling for rape victims...if applicable!

??Do we really wanna know?? Pls ask him to PM you w/ his sad, feeling sorry for self story........

Depends upon what you call entertaining, I for one have lost all interest in watching a conglomerate of pompous over paid spoiled individuals becoming millionaires (they are nothing but sporting corporations with agents and brokers..etc...and they became wealthy on the backs of the fans they piss on all the time.

Watching sports is no better than pretending to play in the cyber world. If you want to be truly entertained pick something that involves physical activity for self, such as hunting, hiking, camping and living off the land for a couple weeks each year...etc., But the best sporting activity of all is still the oldest known to mankind.....the only problem with this activity is the fact that she knows that she is always sitting directly on the throne at all times. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes you don't..depending upon the mood of the queen. :)

Exactly....as if you "could" do something about anyone exercising his/her constitutional rights.

Cory stewart is now calling to revoke the NFL anti trust exemption.

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2017/sep/26/corey-stewart-calls-ending-nfls-anti-trust-exempti/

Virginia Senatorial candidate Corey Stewart wants to strip the National Football League of its lucrative anti-trust exemption over its response to players taking a knee during the National Anthem.

Mr. Stewart, chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors, plans to formally make the demand at a press conference Wednesday outside the NFL Players Association in Washington D.C.

Granted by Congress, the limited anti-trust exemption gives the NFL broad power to negotiate massive television deals as a single entity on behalf of all the teams.
Mr. Stewart is hoping to unseat Sen. Tim Kaine, a Democrat, in the midterm elections, but first must wrap up the GOP nomination.
