WASHINGTON, Aug 14 (Reuters) - Republicans stepped up calls on Sunday for the release of an FBI affidavit showing the justification for its seizure of documents at former President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago home amid reports of heightened threats against federal law enforcement personnel.

A search warrant released last week after the unprecedented search showed that Trump had 11 sets of classified documents at his home, and that the Justice Department had probable cause to conduct the search based on possible Espionage Act violations.

Flop the affidavit out there. If the FBI and DoJ are really wanting to get on top of this shitfest they created, they need to be as open as possible about everything related to it.

Yes, it does. The affidavit shows the legal reasoning and the information that was used to generate the warrant. The most important part of that would be the reasoning behind making the warrant so broad, sweeping, and in some respects vague. Why did the DoJ consider it necessary to cover the entire period Trump was in office? Why allow all materials near an item being taken to also be taken along with it? All of that should be in the affidavit, and if it isn't there's another major awshit coming to the DoJ and FBI...

show the affidavit, redact the informants name. If the FBI did everything above board and within the law, there should be nothing to be afraid of.
