Newt is speaking to why Trump is so effective with Republican voters and it is because Trump understands he needs to speak to them at the level they are at which is 3rd-5th grade.

Newt Gingrich Inadvertently Insults Trump Supporters, Gushes Over Ex-President Speaking at Third-Grade Level

Newt Gingrich wound up patronizing Donald Trump’s supporters by lauding the former president for speaking to people on an elementary school education level....

...Ronald Reagan was probably equally smart, but he also understood he had to communicate so that everyday folks understood it. One of Trump’s great advantages is that he talks at a level where 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade educations can say ‘Oh yeah, I get that. I understand it.

‘Trump’s Appeal to the Cognitively Challenged’

I have long said that it’s important to study intelligence — IQ, cognitive ability, whatever you want to call it. For one thing, in a knowledge-based economy this trait powerfully affects where people end up in life, and you have to understand intelligence if you want to understand, say, economic mobility or inequality.

And the importance of studying IQ doesn’t magically stop at the borders of politics. Indeed, there’s a fair amount of research on whether more intelligent people tend to have different political views.

Newt is correct on the unwashed masses of most Trumpers. Not all, but as this forum and 1/6 prove, mostly correct.

I'm curious... How did you equate how Trump speaks to the intellectual level of "Republican Voters?"

Interestingly it shows the very intelligent are very much like me. Socially libertine with libertarian fiscal views (such as opposing income redistribution and supporting free trade)....

This article is very nice to Libertarian folk... tends to make me think the "studies" may have been run by Libertarians... lol.

Because most do. This is why DeSantis speaks Trumpian Dumbass to lure Trumpers.

Trump is the first choice of 53% Republican and Republican-leaning voters in the primary, roughly doubling DeSantis’ 26%....More than 8 in 10 either support or say they’re open to considering Trump (84%) and DeSantis (85%)

I think most people vote for the R or the D, not the suit. However, as the posted favorability link points out, 53% of Republicans want Trump, which indicates they are not anymore Libertarian than Trump himself.

That doesn't equate to them having low education or IQ.

Fanatics are usually mentally incapacitated in some way since it's irrational behavior. Maybe they're just stupid to fall for fearmongering, maybe they're paranoid or delusional or, as noted below, maybe they have low self-esteem.

It works the same way on the Left, Up, Down or anywhere. Even sports.

The absolute truths that fanatics latch onto might be religious or political, right-wing or left-wing, Christian or Islamic, libertarian or communist, new age spiritual or old-time religious. It’s not what they believe that makes them fanatics but how they believe it — that they have the final word, no need to consider further evidence, and no need to ever wonder or doubt themselves again.

Fanaticism is a drug. Let loose on society it's like crack cocaine or alcohol only worse. Fanatics drive through life like alcoholics driving under the influence. They think they’re perfectly fine driving. They kill innocent bystanders, sometimes by the thousands or millions.

Research shows similarities between a fan’s identification with a sports team and how people identify with their nationality, ethnicity, even gender. Team identification “is the extent to which a fan feels a psychological connection to a team and the team’s performances are viewed as self-relevant,” says Daniel Wann, professor of psychology at Murray State University, who has spent much of his career dedicated to research about sports spectators.

In watching the action, people do indeed identify with teams, and for some, team identification is both important and powerful to their sense of self.

“People are tying up a lot of who they are in their identity as fan of X-team,” says Edward Hirt, associate professor of psychological and brain sciences at Indiana University- Bloomington, who has also conducted research on the psychology of sports fans. “A huge part of who they are, where they derive a lot of their positive and negative affect, is from what their team is doing.”

Ah! So that's your problem. Good to know.

It's funny to watch you evade anything negative about Trump. I have no love for Biden, he's the Carter of the 21st Century, IMO. Hillary was very unethical and, at times, criminal. Yet you only see my disgust of Trump. You repeatedly label me as a Lefty or having TDS. Why? Because you are a Trump fanatic and anyone who isn't with you is against you in your narrow view.
