in contrast, the GOP has a 34% chance of taking the senate - which is twice as likely as the dems retaining the house

17% and 25% are in the same neighborhood. The Economist's model puts it at 24%, the New York Times' model puts it at 17%. Almost everyone who looks in detail at it says that the odds are higher because of information not included in the models.

The point is that the Democrats still have a chance, announcing victory now is silly.
