Putin has lost a quarter of his "combat power" so far in his invasion of Ukraine as his troops "propose" a ceasefire in a key strategic area.

Intelligence from the Pentagon revealed more than a quarter of Putin's "combat power" - including soldiers, tanks, armoured vehicles, jets and helicopters - had been lost as the invasion enters its 56th day. The revelation comes as Russian Defence Ministry proposed a ceasefire in the besieged port city Mariupol. The southeastern city, which has come under sustained attack since the start of the war, would create a landbridge between Russia and Crimea. It is understood the remainder of the city's defence forces are holding out in underground bunkers in the Azovstal steel factory. Ukraine has not yet commented on the proposal.

At the very least, Putin has been literally decimated. That is he has lost one tenth of his force in the war.

Biden predicted a lot of things correctly, but this he did not see coming. It was assumed that Russia invading Ukraine would be like Vietnam, Afghanistan, or Iraq. It was assumed it would be an easy invasion, but a hard occupation. Instead, it has been brutal, and we have not even seen the occupation yet.
