Either side could collapse quickly if the right (or wrong) series of events happen. They are both on edge.
Putin realizes he is on edge, and is not taking the chances that could push either side over the edge. He is using smaller attacks to gain a bit here and a bit there. That might work over time, and he has a close ally in the white house now.
But it also gives time to Ukraine to outsmart him. It is impossible to predict where things will be a year from now.

Delusional on several levels if you are being honest....which is doubtful.
One thing that has gone generally unnoticed in the dying West is the degree to which the Russian and Chinese military industrial complexes are the same thing. For instanstance the Russians are helping the Chinese with Nuclear, missile, jet engine and sub tech....are helping to build up the Chinese nuke warhead inventory....and in return the Chinese make sure that the Russians have whatever they need to keep the weapons plants humming....some claim to include labor but I think that is more likely North Korean....who are very good at weapons construction.
If they were, Russia would have won in Ukraine.
For six months now, they have not been able to repel Ukrainians from Russian territory.
