Even as the special counsel, Jack Smith, appears to be edging closer toward bringing charges against former President Donald J. Trump in connection with his efforts to overturn the 2020 election, prosecutors have been continuing to investigate multiple strands of the case.

In recent weeks, Mr. Smith’s team has pushed forward in collecting new evidence and in arranging new interviews with witnesses who could shed light on Mr. Trump’s mind-set in the chaotic postelection period or on other subjects important to the inquiry. At the same time, word has emerged of previously undisclosed investigative efforts, hinting at the breadth and scope of the issues prosecutors are examining.

It's so sad in a way...

All the Left has is Jan 6 to bitch about that they can't be implicated in as the cause of something being totally fucked up...

"Among the previously unknown steps taken by Mr. Smith’s team was an interview conducted about three months ago with Richard P. Donoghue, a former top official in the Justice Department at the end of Mr. Trump’s time in office. NBC News reported on the interview on Monday night, and Mr. Donoghue confirmed on Tuesday that it took place. But he declined to comment on what he discussed with Mr. Smith’s prosecutors.

In late 2021, Mr. Donoghue, who served as the acting deputy attorney general under Mr. Trump, told the House select committee investigating Jan. 6 that he and Jeffrey Rosen, the acting attorney general at the time, repeatedly sought to rebuff Mr. Trump’s claims that the election had been marred by widespread fraud. At one point, Mr. Donoghue testified, Mr. Trump urged him and Mr. Rosen to “just say the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican congressmen.”

Most Americans consider Trump's attempt to overthrow the government to be a profoundly serious matter.

Overall, about a third of voters, 34 percent, said Jan. 6 would have a major impact. But many of those are Democrats disinclined to cross over and vote for Trump anyway. A narrow majority of Democrats, 53 percent, said it would have a major impact.

That was Trump hating, Democrat loving, Politico three days ago. People don't give a shit about Jan 6 anymore unless they are hardcore Democrats or Leftists. The rest of the country has moved on.

Yeah, don't care what Politico thinks.

Everyone knew this would become a Criminal Dragnet!

That is why it should have never happened.

Many of these people were just first time offenders, and some were already pushing their luck!

Looks like many people will be indicted, not just Mr. Trump.

It was a plot to overthrow a fair and honest election. There were lots of people involved in it. Many have turned on Trump and provided the truth. Trump can't handle the truth. Neither can Trumpys on this board.

Trump is a private citizen. He cannot pardon anyone.

Trump seems to have made this statement to others as well.
