Propaganda vs Fact

Propganda is irrelevant in war. All that really counts is the end result.

So here are the facts to date.

Fact: Irrelevant as to why this war was started now. There is a war.

Fact: It’s obvious this hasn’t gone according to plan for the Russians at this point.

Fact: Ukrainians for the foreseeable future will hate Russia much like the Poles and Czechs etc do.
No matter what peace agreement may transpire this does not bode well for future Russian desires in Ukraine. Especially if the West helps rebuild Ukraine .

All for now.

THey might end up convinced that the West set them up and lied to them.

Whether the propagandist works in a peacetime or wartime situation, he uses certain tools to mobilize opinions and attitudes.

What are these tools?

An important one is suggestion. Another word for it is stimulation.

The propagandist tries to stimulate others to accept without challenge his own assertions, or to act as he wants them to do.

The idea of using suggestion or stimulation as a propaganda device is that it will lead a public to accept a proposition even though there are not logical grounds for accepting it.

The propagandist usually tries to side-step critical reactions from his audience, and therefore suggestion is one of his most important tools.

How does the propagandist use this tool?

  • By making broad and positive statements.
  • By presenting his statements in simple and familiar language.
  • By refusing to admit, or even suggest, that there is another side to the question.
The self-interested propagandist will study public opinion to find out what things people are “for” or “against” in order to decide on the labels that he will use to bring about desired reactions.

He knows that such words as “justice,” “freedom,” “Americanism,” and “liberty,” which arouse favorable attitudes, will serve as a favorable background for his message, and so he uses them.

On the other hand, he may use certain other words—for example, “evil” or “un-democratic”—to influence his listeners to reject a cause or idea that he regards as inimical to his own interests.

The skilled propagandist also knows the techniques of “making ideas stick.” It is because of this knowledge that he resorts to key words and slogans.

Propaganda is never appropriate- not during a time of peace- and not during a time of war!

And it is relevant that History knows RUSSIA started the war!

That's all I've got for now!

Yes, I realize I could be wrong.
But I see all this so called "information" about how Ukraine is "winning" or Putin is firing advisors left and right. Or the military successes of the Russians.
1. Who knows if this is true or not?
2. What difference would it make in the outcome whether true or not?

"What difference would it make in the outcome whether true or not"?

You do know why Hitler never reinforced the Normandy beaches until it was too late, don't you?

No doubt. But whose propaganda will convince the Ukrainians? None needed. It's obvious the West set them up.

I dont know how this is going to turn out....in a year or two will Ukraine be looking West, East, or neutral?

At the moment they are looking increasingly West but when this war is over and they survey a devastated Ukraine knowing that this did not need to happen, knowing that the West for almost two decades pushed them towards conflict with Russia and China....what will they think then?

I am noting that even though Russia has been clear from day 1 that they are not trying to take and hold territory Western Propaganda every day screams "They have still not taken Kiev, look at how they are failing!"

And the ignorant propaganda consumers eat it up.

Of course not. Putin wants to install a pro- Russian govt.
Western Propaganda every day screams "They have still not taken Kiev, look at how they are failing!"

And the ignorant propaganda consumers eat it up.
I'd say they have yet to install a pro-Russian govt.

No, it's not. They both use media.
prop·a·gan·da

ruse
an action intended to deceive someone; a trick.

Similar but not the same.
