Presidential Inaugurations

The recent coronation of Charles III was a pleasantly entertaining spectacle for those of us who were interested.

There is no comparing a coronation to a presidential inauguration, of course, but we really could do a bit more, don't you think?

John F. Kennedy was the last US President to be inaugurated wearing a formal morning suit.
That was fucking January of 1961.
Young people may not know this, but there used to be at least a modicum of formality to the process.

From LBJ on, all presidents have been inaugurated wearing a regular suit as if it were just another day at the office.
Can we be too far away from the celebrants wearing sweats?

I am personally offended by the level of informality to which our culture has descended.
I don't see anybody else complaining about this, however.
Obviously, I've outlived my own time.

I've got to remember to ban the classless BidenPresident from my threads.

I can't read what the pathetic fuckwit says because he's obviously on ignore,
but just seeing his username on my threads is annoying.

You should go to a social media forum. You clearly do not want discussion.

We don’t make a spectacle of it on purpose.

The president is a servant of the people and the people are more important than any one man so there should be no pompous ceremony.

It’s not about him it’s about Americans making a choice on which way to take the nation.

The president is just a tool they use to do it

Agree. Nifty seems to want the US to be a monarchy.

Still, not dressing formally is disrespectful to the process in my view.
We've trashed what little class we ever had.
I guess that I'm just incapable of thinking like a populist.

Also, I don't think that any of the people who clean up afterward deserves to be regarded as a "tool," much less the president.

Me, too, Nifty.

Please do not ban him. He is too much fun to laugh at. And he never disappoints...a rock-bottom stupid comment every time.
