Diversity Makes Greatness
Remember when President Obama was in office?
Conservatives loudly complained that NPR and PBS were nothing but mouthpieces for Obama. Remember that? They were highly suspicious of PBS and NPR, calling them 'Government Propaganda.' They thought Obama was controlling what was said. (Of course, they thought President Obama was doing all kinds of horrible things he never actually did at all.)
Well, if the President is allowed to control what the public media reports, then why are they running stories which are highly critical of him?
Conservatives were wrong about their feared government control of NPR and PBS.
PoliTalker anti-troll thread thief disclaimer: If this thread is stolen, plagiarized, will the thief have the nerve to use the entire OP, word for word? Including this disclaimer? If you want my take on it, you'll have to post to this original PoliTalker thread. I refuse to be an enabler for online bullies, so I won't post to a stolen thread. I won't even read it. If you don't see me, PoliTalker, posting in this thread check the author. This might be a hijacked thread, not the original.
These news services have no reason to place any slant on their reporting. Their funding does not depend on slanting stories. They are tasked with presenting unbiased stories and that is what they do.
We are very lucky to have these trusted non biased news sources.
They should be protected from any attempts to control what they say, or to interrupt their funding, because some don't like what they say.
Trying to muzzle the vital free and open news is the first trick of dictators and demagogues.
The fact that President Trump is powerless to control PBS and NPR shows precisely how independent they are!
And how precious.
Not only are these news sources not influenced by the President, they are also not influenced by capitalism and profits.
And that is VERY important.
The commercial news sources make more profits when there is great controversy. This is an incentive for them to fan the flames of controversy. That's why President Trump gets so much air time. Trump has been wonderful for profits of commercial news media. Even CNN likes him, despite their coverage of opposing views. Trump drives ratings up. People are drawn to Trump just like they are drawn to violence and dark energy. The commercial news media knows that violent and salacious stories get attention and sell advertising. We consumers should make it a point to support and demand investigative journalism in lieu of emotional pandering. We need to be discerning in the way we consume news.
We need to ask ourselves if we are consuming media to get informed or get entertained.
