Newsome in 2024? And your pick for VP? Thanks for starting this thread by the way...;)

You are welcome.

I do not think Newsome is running, but I am not a huge fan. Too much bad ego. I would have a hard time choosing who to vote for in the primary between him and Biden.

You really think Joe is going to be in the primary? And I'm asking seriously... if you don't think Newsome is going to run who do you think Democrats will support?

I think Joe, unless he has a major health issue, will be the nominee. I like the governor of North Carolina, Roy Cooper, but their are a lot of great options. I particularly like Kamilla Harris, but they have done such a hit job on her (because she scares them) I am not sure it could be her.

I don't think he will be the one and it won't have much to do with his age or health issues... although those are both serious concerns.
It won't be Kamala... she is scary.... and she didn't do her job so we will blessedly be spared.... I am not familiar with Governor Clark but I'll take a look. Time's flying.... it's going to be interesting, that's for sure...

You will be voting for the felon.

Maybe the Senate can let Mitch use a computer like Fetterman.

Read it and weep, hater.

John Fetterman, Hoodie and All, Is Adjusting to Life in the Senate

In an interview with The New York Times, the Pennsylvania senator spoke about the dysfunction in Congress, his health challenges and why he hasn’t traded his loungewear for a business suit.

Q:You’ve now been in Congress for just over six months. What is your overall impression of how the place functions?

A: There’s a fixation on a lot of dumb shit. Bad performance art is really what it gets down to. The debt ceiling — there should have been no drama with any of that. The fact that we’re playing with something like that is antithetical to the stability of our democracy. It really is. Everything is turning into a culture war. Not everything has to be a think piece, you know.

...We’re fighting for women’s reproductive freedom, making sure we have resources and support our unions. I’m going to fight for what’s really important.

Q: You’ve introduced legislation to expand access to contraception, with more than a dozen Democratic co-sponsors. Is there any Republican support for that in the Senate?

A: It’s going to be very hard. Somebody needs to tell Republicans, like in a memo, “You won on abortion. You won. Why not have a serious conversation about birth control? That’s less abortions and unwanted children.” I wish we could have an honest conversation with conservatives and Republicans that birth control is the answer for both sides. But there wouldn’t be 60 votes in the Senate for that. I still really want to keep pushing it. I want to have that conversation.

Q: Pennsylvania is going to be critical in the 2024 presidential election. You’ll be seeing a lot of President Biden. Are you at all concerned about his age?

A: I’m not concerned about his age. And even if I was, who cares? There’s nothing you can do about his age. I’ve spent enough time around him. He’s sharp, he’s aware, he is absolutely up to the task. I’ll be doing whatever his campaign asks of me. I know Pennsylvania, I’ve won Pennsylvania. I’ll be helping with whatever he asks.

Yesterday after Mitch McConnell had what seemed like some sort of medical incident, President Biden called him to make sure he was doing well.

Biden and McConnell are from opposite ends of the political spectrum. They have been going at each other politically for decades.

But today it was one human being caring about the well being of another human being.

It’s the way we should all act toward one another.

Not surprising. They have been working together for ages and well before the time when republicans and democrats hated one another.

It was a political show, Biden probably can't wait for McConnell to die.

Presidents are expected to show empathy, they are diplomats whether they actually care or not.

That's all this was.

McConnell and Biden go way back. When McConnell needed democratic votes, he always called on Biden to be the negotiator and work both sides of the aisle, when he needed bi-partisan votes. So they have always had a special kind of friendship and admiration for one another.

Back when Biden was a Congressman, it was always Joe Biden, Lyndsey Graham, and McCain that got involved to iron out the issues that were holding up the passing of Bills in Congress. McConnell used them all very effectively to get many bills passed through Congress.
