Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Thursday that the American way of life and its founding principles are “under attack,” focusing his criticism on voices in the mainstream news media and protesters who have torn down statues of historical figures.

Speaking in Philadelphia at the National Constitution Center, where he accepted the first report of the advisory “Commission on Unalienable Rights,” Pompeo said the events roiling the United States today are antithetical to the nation’s ideals.

Pompeo and Trump are the biggest threats to our nation we've ever encountered.

In his remarks, Pompeo also took aim at protesters and media reports following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis, saying many have pushed a view of a nation made up solely of “the oppressors and the oppressed.”

“Instead of seeking to improve America, leading voices promulgate hatred of our founding principles,” he said. “This is a dark vision of America’s birth. I reject it. It is a slander on our great people.”

Pompeo claims private property and religious freedom are 'foremost' human rights

Pompeo did not mention freedom of the press in his remarks, but he repeatedly attacked the New York Times, accusing it of purveying Marxist ideology. The secretary of state has been rebuked by human rights groups for his selectivity in applying norms.

He has for example, been a staunch supporter of the Saudi monarchy, in the face of evidence of atrocities from its war in Yemen, its use of torture and the murder of the Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi. The commission report refers to Saudi Arabia as a “flagrant human rights abuser”.

That is the current script, everything is out of control, chaos in the street, rioting, looting, watch FOX, every hour includes a narrative about how someone was mugged, killed or attacked, with the usual "FOX regular contributors" breaking it down, all the setup for Trump as the Law and Order solution, regurgitation of Reagan's campaign themes

Irony is that outside of the Fox bubble it ain't selling
