A man police say shot himself in the head while his hands were cuffed behind him in the back of an Arkansas patrol car tested positive for methamphetamine, anti-anxiety medication and other drugs, according to an autopsy report released Monday that listed his death as a suicide.

The muzzle of a handgun that Chavis Carter apparently concealed from arresting officers was placed against his right temple when it was fired.

The report, signed by three medical examiners, included a drug analysis showing Carter's urine and blood indicated methamphetamine and other drug use.

The report, released under a Freedom of Information Act request, said Carter's blood also tested positive for at least trace amounts of the anti-anxiety medication diazepam and the painkiller oxycodone.

His urine test also returned a positive result for marijuana.

IT doesn't that's for forensic's department(who are usually contractors of the city and not cops) to determine. Though the presence of anti-anxiety meds and numerous other drugs makes a suicide seem more likely no?

No.

provided said decedent wasn't handcuffed behind his back.

Jonesboro police previously had released a video reconstruction of the shooting showing how a man could shoot himself in the head with his hands cuffed behind him. In producing that video, the agency said it used the same type of handcuffs used on Carter and the same model of handgun found near him after he died: a .380-caliber Cobra semi-automatic. An officer of similar height and weight as Carter sat in the back of a cruiser, leaned over and was able to lift the weapon to his head and reach the trigger.

That's why I left it up to the forensics boys and girls. Let them do the job, and see what they find. Spinning theories before hand is entertaining and pointless.

As for the mother's testimony I don't place much stock in it. Every parent or family member will try to deny suicide, it's an unpleasant thing and it's easier to believe murder.

oh, well then it must be true.

I completely ignored the mothers testimony and instead went with logic and reason.

not at all. it's a form of punctuation designed to pose a question, yet when the question is not included in the subject matter of the post, becomes a symbol of dickish trollery.

So asking a question in the thread title and posting a news article verbatim = "dickish trollery"?

Ok then may I ask what reason the police would have to shoot somebody in the back of their squad car?
why did they beat and torture rodney king? why did they chase down and beat senseless a black teenager with a 1 liter soda bottle in his pocket? why did one pile drive an 84 year old man and break his neck? why did they shoot and kill a man for not allowing an illegal entry in to his home over a misdemeanor traffic violation? why did they shoot and kill an optometrist who was running a high stakes football pool?
