Joe Biden - "Time to put Trump in the bullseye."
The city says it's about religious freedom but Islam is NOT a religion. It's a political movement that calls itself a religion to get just this sort of special treatment.

june 1 2016 The Philadelphia School District will add two Muslim holidays to its calendar and the city will create a task force to study doing the same for the city’s calendar, officials announced Tuesday.

“Philadelphia’s history is based on being a place where religious freedom is part of its founding ethos,” Mayor Kenney said at a news conference in City Hall. “Our city was built on the idea that while we may be different in nationality and ethnicity, the city welcomes all to worship and practice the faiths of our culture or our choosing.”

The two holidays are Eid al-Fitr, celebrated after the month-long observance of Ramadan, and Eid al-Adha, celebrated at the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage.

Well, isn't that dandy, lol. A public school district making room on the calendar for religious holidays.

I'm sure we'll hear from the ACLU soon.

Nope, we already have holidays for Christians in the school system and I do not care.

You mean Winter and Spring? I suppose Thanksgiving is sort-of Christian...

I am curious if students are allowed to bring M-80s and other small explosives to school during these Muslim holidays.

Other school districts have added Jewish, Hindu and Asian holidays, it seems to be a growing trend of inclusiveness.

So here's how to make it really easy.

Remove two things from schools:

1) Holidays centered on religion.

2) Remove attendance penalties for those students who do not attend school to observe their own religious holidays.

Or add vacation days for all religious holidays - Every.Single.Religion.

I think 1 and 2 together are the better and more reasonable options.

You make sense.

Sounds good to me.

Lol, yeah, good try.

I went to public schools. From P-12, my holidays included Winter Break, Mid-Winter Break, and Spring Break. We did have Thanksgiving Break, though. I didn't have my first Christmas or Easter breaks until I enrolled at Saint Martin's University for the 2005-2006 school year.
