Paul ryan losing

he's in a tough spot

trump lost Wisconsin (though i dont know how he did in ryans district)

As speaker and leader of the party, he can support trump, but if he does that, he'll probably hurt himself in his own state

What does it say that if you don't fall in line with Trump's probable party nomination that you should basically lose your job or have your time as a public servant and elected official destroyed? What kind of precedent does that set? How is that the cleanup that people supposedly want when it involves destructive partisanship within your own party? Nobody should be forced to support a candidate or face destruction, that's not the type of country we should want, but it will be what we deserve at this rate in my opinion.

Well there is that and the fact that those Trump supporters who beat out establishment GOP candidates, particularly in the North and Midwest, will probably lose in the general election to Democratic opponents. Janesville is a place where political ideologues, left or right, don't do well there over the long haul. The folks within Janesville proper tend to be Democrats but the folks in the rural areas of the district are far right conservative. The kind that shiver in dread at the though of having to drive within 10 miles of Milwaukee or Chicago.

Ryan knows what the score is. His job is to bring home the bacon and despite his Randist ideology he's done a good job of that and thus has local support. If his leadership position has caused a corresponding drop in constituent services and home district funding....he'll be in trouble.

ryan made a choice. He calculated there were more nevertrump than protrump in his district and it seems he chose wrongly. Besides whenever the populace is dissatisfied wit hsomeone they can always be voted out. If you take that out because of party seniority or party position then you should just have the GOP apoint everyone and do away with the primaries.

Paul Ryan's job is to preside over the house and to represent his district. He does not have to bend at the knee to the GOP nominee or the sitting president. We have separation of powers for a reason and at the moment the precedent is being set that if you don't endorse Trump or if you remain neutral in a position of power that you should be destroyed. Donald Trump is not running for king, he is not running for party chairman, he is running for president, and he should not, and his supporters should not, publicly call to destroy someone because they do not bow to Trump. Paul Ryan is not obligated to support Trump and he is not obligated to endorse any candidate even if it weren't Trump. If he does not want to endorse Trump then that should be that, and Trump and his supporters should be mature enough to respect that decision from another voting citizen, even if he is the speaker of the house.

again its all about the voters. If the voters dont think you are doing a good job you get voted out.
